PS: Ignore the fact that the aircraft lights are off in each picture, it’s just a bug
Good afternoon from the main central concourse of Doha’s BEAUTIFUL Hamad International Airport! I had just gotten off a 13 hour flight from my home in Miami, FL to subject of yesterdays report and now I’m going to continue the rest of my journey to Thailand
on Qatar Airway’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner which will be taking me to Bangkok in a few hours I’m glad your joining me once again!
After getting a few pictures with the famous lamp bear, I decided to stroll along the beautiful terminal which I honestly I could do for HOURS. I only had 2 but I wouldn’t mind a 6 hour layover just to stay in this place, it reminds me of a world class shopping mall! before proceeding to my gate of E1, I stopped by a small market to buy some snacks just in case I didn’t like what Qatar was offering but I’m pretty sure I will either way. That was a good decision because just like at Dubai International Airport, we have those little secluded waiting rooms where you scan your ticket and are CONFINED into this area. This wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing except once you’re here, you CANNOT leave no matter what even if you have to use restroom but there might be some here right? NOPE!
I thankfully already used the restroom the second I got off my MIA flight but there were lots of people that needed to go, I could put the blame on them but also the airport in some way since they decided to install these gates but not restrooms within them but I’ll wait till I embark on my last leg back home to give my final verdict on this system.
FLIGHT INFO:
Origin: Hamad Intl (DOH/OTTH)
Destination: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International (BKK/VTBS)
Flight Time: 6:08
Boeing 787-8 (Qatar Airways)
Server: Expert
My ride to Bangkok this evening will be A7-BCK, a 12 and a half year old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner delivered to Qatar Airways in December 2012, this is the 3rd B788 ever delivered to Qatar Airways, will it still hold up soft product wise? We will have to wait and see, boarding wasn’t exactly smooth as pretty much EVERYONE crammed into the door area making it take like 15 minutes just to get down the jet bridge which is kind of ridiculous.
There are 2 types of Qatar B787-8s, one of them seating 254 people and the other seating 267. Today we are on the former which has 20 Collins Aerospace’s Super Diamond seats in a typical 1-2-1 configuration just in between doors 2 and the first section of economy class there are an additional 2 business seats across from the lavatories, would you guys sit here? The other Qatar B788 have 18 Collins Aerospace Apex suites in a 2-2-2 configuration, NONE of their ENTIRE Dreamliner reflect across the -8s and -9s have their QSuites so keep that in mind! The economy class make ups the remaining 232 seats on this aircraft with us having the Recaro CL3620 slimlines in the typical Dreamliner 3-3-3 configuration. The other version has 249 Collins Aerospace Pinnacle seats also in a 3-3-3 configuration.
My seat will be once again in the rear economy cabin, 28K to be exact! Waiting on my seat once again were a pillow and a blanket but no water bottle? I mean my previous flight was 13 hours and while this one is only half of that, it’s still an overnight flight hydration is pretty important Qatar. Even AMERICAN AIRLINES provided me with a water bottle on their flight from Miami to Montevideo, Uruguay
from back in February and yes that flight was slightly longer, these are both OVERNIGHT flights, they could’ve just added one easily but I guess they chose not to. Considering the mess in the terminal, the crew wanted to leave Doha as soon as possible so the LITERAL SECOND the final passenger boarded, the crew informed the cockpit ready to go. The ground crew and ATC acknowledged and soon enough we began pushing back from the game and beginning or taxi to DOHs runway 16L for take off!
Peace out Doha! I’ll be back soon to explore you on the outside before going back home to the 305

Soon after departure, we started turning east towards Thailand

Just like my MIA → DOH flight, the crew began the meal service right away which is great considering this flight is overnight and it’s ONLY 6 hours long. It’s barely longer than flying from the east to west coast of the United States and the same length as a flight from the northeast to north western Europe! We had the same meal options as my previous flight this time I chose the pasta which came in some type of garlic sauce, accompanied with a warm bread roll, cheese, side salad, water bottle and another beverage choice which I chose to have another water thanks to the amount of coke I have already consumed on the previous flight. And just like my previous meals on Qatar Airways, this one SHINED! The crew was very nice as well both the new ones we picked up in Doha and Mickey who was on my previous flight. One specific one named Jessica even told me that the first ever long haul flight she flew once she got a job at Qatar was DOH → BKK and here she is 5 years into her career, flying this exact route again! I have pretty much no choice but to give ANOTHER 5 stars
After the meal wrapped up, the crew dimmed the lights and it was soon time to try and get some sleep.
Just like the Airbus A350 I spent the previous flight onboard, the Boeing 787 also provides a very comfortable sleep experience only being woken up for a pre landing snack as we left the coast of India

I got served a fairly medium sized bread type snack with tomato and mozzarella on the inside this was accompanied with another beverage choice and an Austrian candy? Strange to see something from a European country on a flight from Qatar to Thailand
For my beverage, decided to go with some coffee as it’s pretty early in Bangkok. Both the pizza type bread stick and Austrian candy were really nice to have and while I didn’t necessarily need anything else to eat given the short flight time, it was still WELL appreciated!
With about an hour and a half remaining to Bangkok, it’s time to check out the IFE system which is the same one that’s installed on their A350-900 and even the WiFi is the exact same as well. I put on some Family Guy to entertain me for the remaining hour and a half until landing!
We soon crossed into Myanmar just slightly north of the little town of Ye, we will now soon enough be beginning our descent into Bangkok.
We’ll continue on the same path before turning directly towards the city before turning again before ANOTHER turn to enter the right downwind leg before finally turning base to land on BKKs RWY 19, good thing we didn’t eat anything heavy before landing
While I was seated on the right seated which should’ve given me a good view over the city, the plane turning away kind of obstructed that but it’s okay because I can always use a drone to make it possible. Down below lit up is Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, the second airport in the city the other one being the Suvarnabhumi Airport which is the one we’re approaching.
Soon enough, we were on final for BKKs RWY 19 as the sun begins the rise

TOUCHDOWN! Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand

Welcome to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport which while is not as beautiful as Hamad Airport, it’s still a nice and charming place. I’m now on my way to immigration

That will be it regarding this flight on Qatar Airway’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Doha, Qatar to Bangkok, Thailand
in economy class. Stay tuned for the next flight on Air Asia to Phuket and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky!
