TRIPREPORT: American Airlines | Philadelphia (PHL) -> Miami (MIA) | Premium Economy | Boeing 787-8

Good afternoon everybody from Atlantic City! Which I got to say, is definitely one of the best cities to visit on the east coast it’s kind of like a mini Las Vegas 🎰⭐️ good bars and casinos and tons of activities to do not to mention unlike Vegas, we are actually on a beach 🏝️ and can enjoy the boardwalk we have and as a plus, this area isn’t overwhelmed with tourists compared to New York City 🗽🍎 just 2 hours north where at least 1 person on the sidewalk you walk along with is a tourist probably. So if you live along the east coast and don’t feel like flying across the country to Sin City 🎰⭐️ Atlantic City is a great alternative 👍 anyways, I have now arrived at Atlantic City International Airport to start my interesting itinerary back home to Miami 🏝️😎 on American Airlines, if you saw the first part of this trip you’ll know how we got to ACY and it wasn’t by plane instead by BUS 🚌 so I was kind of looking forward to see how the “flight” to Philadelphia will go and it went fine, I checked in for both flights online and once I got to the airport I simply had to wait for the bus from PHL to come no need to drop my bag off or go through security which I found weird but okay. The bus ride to Philadelphia International Airport wasn’t noteworthy at all and we arrived on the curb at PHLs Terminal F where the American Eagle flights depart including the buses. My flight to MIA however was leaving out of terminal A west on the other side of the airport. Thankfully this connection wasn’t too tight and was able to drop my bag off and clear security with ease. It was kind of strange to just now clear security even though this would technically be my connection and not my origin point. I was kind of peckish and since I didn’t get anything on the bus and know for sure we won’t get any real food on the plane, I stopped by a Sbarro pizzeria near my gate and grabbed a slice of Pizza and a garlic breadstick 🍕🥖 which were really good 👍 and I simply just caught up on some school work thanks to the airports free Wi-Fi until a little bit before 10 minutes remained till boarding and I simply packed my laptop and made my way to the gate.

My ride down to the 305 🏝️😎 this afternoon will be N809AA an August 2015 built Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner who spent all of its who’s spent all of its 9 years with American. This aircraft had just come in earlier in the day from Amsterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱 and would carry us down to MIA before continuing all the way south to Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 this aircraft definitely has a tight schedule today. Boarding has just been called and once again I get to board a bit earlier compared to my other PE passengers thanks to my status!

All of Americans B788s have a total of 234 seats on board, today’s cabin will be a bit different since this aircraft is one the older Dreamliners from 2015. Up in flagship business you can find 20 Collins Aerospace super diamond seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. Behind that is the premium economy cabin I’ll be staying in which features the exact same 28 seats on the newer Dreamliners, the Collins Aerospace MiQ seats also in a 2-3-2 configuration and behind that is the typical 3-3-3 arranged economy featuring 186 Collins Aerospace Slimlines with 48 main cabin extra seats. Back in my seat 6A there is a lot more legroom compared to the other seats due to this being a bulkhead seat, this is essentially the same seat you’d find in first class on of AAs narrowbodies. Boarding was completed a bit late but our arrival into Miami 🏝️😎 wouldn’t be affected too much so let’s pushback, fire up our engines and make our way to PHLs runway 27L for take off!

Bye bye Philadelphia!

After a relatively uneventful departure from PHL, we have levelled off at 40,000ft just 1,000ft under our cruising altitude of our flight to Philly and we’d basically take the exact same route we did coming up but just heading south time. The crew began their service fairly quickly which consisted of the typical biscoff cookies or pretzels but unlike the previous flight, we were actually able to make a choice on what we wanted which I chose the pretzels since I didn’t get them the previous time and I got a Coke to accompany them 🥨🥤they were really good and all you truly need for a 2 hour flight down the coast although I was a bit jealous seeing the passenger in the business cabin getting full meals but I’m pretty sure that pizza I had on the ground would’ve been way better anyways. Crew were also great but I’d like to highlight one especially, remember how I said that after we land in Miami 🏝️😎 the plane would head off to Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 after? Yeah one of the crew members was of Chilean descent and was super happy to be able to work a flight to his home country and I hope he enjoys that flight and his layover in SCL and I even had a small conversation with him about my trip to Chile 🇨🇱 earlier in April, this crew earns 5 stars as well! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this aircraft is fitted with seat back screens since it is primarily used on long haul international flights, the Thales Avant system with live TV is used along with Viasat high speed satellite Wi-Fi is used which I didn’t buy since I did all my school work on the ground. I did pop on some Impractical Jokers to pass the time. Down below is the Chesapeake Bay along with a view of the vast Atlantic! 😍

Around half an hour later, we overflew the North Carolina coast indicating the halfway point between PHL and MIA. By this point I decided to take a visit to the lavatory and just simply walk around the aircraft a bit before sitting back down.

I guess the saying “time flies” is true because soon enough, the Bahamas 🇧🇸 came into view a bit off the treasure coast of Florida 🏝️🐊🍊 meaning that we had just begun our descent into Miami 🏝️😎 we’d pretty much remain pretty far from shore by Palm Beach Country but we’d begin turning a bit heading closer flying right off shore by Broward County and even pass right by Fort Lauderdale 🏝️🛥️ along with the Fort Lauderdale Airport. We would eventually fly inland over Sunny Isles Beach in northern Miami Dade County providing me with a nice view over Biscayne Bay looking towards Miami 🏝️😎 before flying past MIA on left downwind before turning base over Hialeah Gardens before coming to land on RWY 12.

Here’s a look of us turning inland over Sunny Isles with that EPIC view of Vice City 🏝️😎 as promised!

After looking down at the city streets, the airport, and pretty much all of Hialeah, we have now made our base turn and now have a straight in approach into MIAs RWY 12.

TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Miami 🏝️😎 everybody and the end of another fantastic trip! Like I’ve said before, flying on a widebody domestically even in regular cabin is still an amazing experience but this flight was a bit more special since we did it in premium economy this time around which I was able to do just for the price of Main Cabin Extra which is good value in my opinion since these seats on regular domestic routes can be a lot of money but we easily saved money today by flying a widebody which arguably would’ve been more comfortable anyways, the crew were also great along with the IFE so there’s not much else to say other than it was a good flight on AAs 787-8 and I would definitely try and seek it out whenever possible when flying between 2 of their biggest hubs!

Here we are, welcome back to Miami International Airports north terminal concourse D home entirely to American Airlines, there’s the last view of our Dreamliner before she is towed to AAs maintenance area before coming back to the terminal later in the night for the flight to Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 and I even ran into that flight attendant on the way the baggage claim and said that he was going to have a quick dinner in Brickell before coming back to work the flight to SCL so I hope he enjoys both the dinner and the flight. Our bags didn’t take long at all to come out and was soon able to get back to my car and drive back home to relax until next month where we return to Europe this time to explore a shockingly new destination for me at least compared to the places I’ve been to first. That’s all regarding the bus ride from Atlantic City to Philadelphia and the flight from PHL to Miami 🏝️😎 on American Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in premium economy, stay tuned for the next trip to Europe and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
