Same notice applies to this report like the previous one. I was originally supposed to have this up yesterday although I ended up being busy all of Saturday AND Sunday making me have to shift all flights by one day. So this chronologically would’ve been yesterday even though it is being posted today. I apologize for the confusion but off we go back home.
Good early morning or so from New York City ![]()
the Big Apple and the unofficial capital of the world. While I wasn’t here for to long, I was enjoy my times here in NYC whether it be my ultimate destination for a trip or a simple stopover point like it was in this scenario. I used JFK as a stopover point on my way from Miami, FL ![]()
to Amman, Jordan
not only because it was by far the cheapest one stop option between the 2 cities but I was also traveling with a friend who lives here. Yesterday me and him enjoyed a nice afternoon stroll through midtown Manhattan and a little journey over to Staten Island, a part of the city I’ve actually never visited. I really liked it over there and maybe apart from a few architectural and infrastructure elements, you probably would think it’s some where on Long Island, upstate or even in neighboring New Jersey. I overall really had a good time for the few shorts days I had here in the Big Apple ![]()
Unfortunately though, the time soon had to come to an end as on Monday in the bright early morning I had to catch my flight back home to The 305 ![]()
We’ll be flying on American Airlines’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in main cabin for this last stretch home, I’m glad your joining me and let’s get going!
After a pretty lengthy, stressful drive in this Queens traffic and an emotional farewell to my friend, I have arrived at terminal 8 here at John F. Kennedy International Airport which houses the majority of OneWorld carriers American Airlines included. Their closest partners like British Airways, Iberia, Qantas, Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific all operate from here as well even Royal Jordanian, the airline I flew to and from Amman also uses this terminal. The terminal was PACKED as the Thanksgiving
travel week is in full effect, luckily the baggage drop off lanes weren’t all that long as most people only travel for a few short days before returning home meaning that they rarely need to check in bags. The situation at security wasn’t a whole lot better for the general purpose lanes but for those of us with TSA pre check, it was pretty straightforward. Upon clearing security, you are placed in this large space containing a model of an American Airlines Airbus A300, logo evolution murals and a whole lot of other decorations around theming to AA. If it wasn’t obvious enough you owned this place, now I hope it is. Terminal 8 is easily among of my favorite airport terminals I’ve come across on my travels, well at least if we take middle eastern terminals out of the picture, I just really love this place and wish American would decorate their concourse D in MIA with elements relating to them. It was pretty early in the morning and I needed some coffee
there was a Starbucks located in the food court near the TSA checkpoint so I solved that issue there. I also found a Auntie-Anne’s and got myself a pretzel
I mean it’s New York? ![]()
how can you not end your trip with a tasty treat although I much would’ve preferred a pizza
it’s too early for that. Despite the hour, there was still a few amount of widebody aircraft in the terminal. Apart from our B787-9, there was another American B789 departing to Tokyo Haneda, Japan
an AA Boeing 777-200ER preparing to cross the Atlantic over to London Heathrow, UK
and a Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER bound for Doha, Qatar
Eventually, it was time for me to make my way to the gate, gate 12 to await for my flight home

Taking me down south to Miami
Boarding began right on time which is always great to hear, a good tip for on time performance is to fly in mornings that’s when I usually encounter the least of delays. I boarded in group 4 despite being a main cabin passenger because of my very loyal status with American.
Like I already mentioned, this particular B787-9 has the older layout which seats 285 people. The cabin itself is also the exact same as my MIA - JFK flight so if you want to know the details on everything, I suggest you check that report out.
This morning, I’ll be seated in seat 25L in the second row of the aft section of the economy cabin. There isn’t anything special waiting for us on the seats given this is a short 2 hour and 45 minutes hop south. The seats are comfortable which is more than sufficient for a flight of this length but an absolute NECESSITY for the longer flights this aircraft also operates. This particular aircraft had previously flown in from Delhi, India
with that flight easily being among one of the longest in AAs network. Seatback screens can also be found given it is a widebody but we’ll check that out once we are in the air. For now, it’s time to pushback, start up our engines and taxi over to JFKs RWY 22R for take off!
Till the next time New York!
Our climb out of JFK was absolutely BEAUTIFUL
The crew also began coming around with their traditional snack and beverage service you can expect to experience on domestic hops like this one regardless of aircraft used. I was handed out not one, not two but THREE biscoff cookies
probably because the crew had a lot more on board than they needed to hand out at least one to everybody. A choice of beverage was also offered where I chose to have an apple juice
given it is still somewhat early even though it’s already like 11:00am. I’d say this is sufficient enough for the length of the flight so it really didn’t bother me that we didn’t get anything else. However, that doesn’t mean that this is ALL that should be offered it would be cool to see at least sandwiches, wraps or snack boxes available for purchase at least. I’m not saying we need a full free meal like on long haul flights on this short haul one but at least give the passengers more options. The crew were really great, always in the aisle checking up on us and 2 of them are actually currently college students with one attending the University of Miami and the other attending Florida International University just a bit to the west of MIA. Each one although especially the 2 college students, always had time for some aviation or airline related chit chat and overall just made this final segment home a lot more enjoyable, 5 stars here! ![]()

The entertainment system and overall situation is the exact same as it was previously. We have an amazing selection of content available to watch on demand or to stream on your own mobile devices which is great considering AAs flights can actually get really long even though none of them are actually in the top 10 longest on earth
WiFi is also available for free to access the streaming library on a persona device or to review information regarding your flight or connection. Actual internet access is currently an extra cost although it will hopefully soon be free for AAdvantage members come 2026. I decided to actually purchase a full flight pass to get some work done on my previous trip report from AMM to JFK that I wanted to have out as soon as possible. So that is essentially what I spent the entire flight doing along with a few brain breaks by looking out over the horizon.
An few minutes later, we flew out of the northeast’s airspace and entered the airspace around the southern US
The Internet started acting up as we flew over the Atlantic for the remaining hour of the flight and with that, I simply decided to call it off on the trip report and just finish it later on after I land. Soon enough, the space coast
Down below, you can see the coastline of Palm Beach County alongside some of the inner coastal suburbs. Places like Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Wellington and eventually the county seat of West Palm Beach ![]()

After a close up view of the Broward County coustline, the inland turn towards Hialeah and the final 180, we find ourselves on final approach for MIAs RWY 12 directly over the Trump National Doral Gold Club.
TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Miami, FL
A good friend of mine Santi who’s known online as MiamiSpotter305 joined us out by the NW 25th ST spotting area and so did this American Airlines Boeing 737MAX8 waiting for us to land before it departs off to Orlando, FL!
After a very welcoming taxi around Miami International Airport, we end up at the north terminal concourse D more specifically gate D14. Here we can get a final view of our aircraft before she makes her way back up to New York JFK
That will be it regarding this flight on American Airlines’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from New York JFK ![]()

in main cabin and this trip to Jordan
all together. Stay tuned for December where we can hopefully go on that Brazil
trip I initially planned for May and as always between now and the next time, see you in the skies! ![]()
