TRIPREPORT: American Airlines | London Heathrow (LHR) -> Miami (MIA) | Flagship Business | Boeing 777-300ER

Good late morning everybody from London’s Heathrow airport! Where I’m currently on the Heathrow express making my way from Terminal 5 where I left on from my previous British Airways flight from Paris, France 🇫🇷 to terminal 3 where my next flight on American Airlines to Miami 🏝️😎 is waiting for us and we will be doing this flight in flagship business once again on a full day time flight to get the best experience or so I though at least. Thankfully flagship business had its own dedicated check in desks which was great since our connection here was pretty tight but we only needed to drop off our bags since check in was done online to hopefully spare some time and now we are off to security and thank goodness it was somewhat deserted which got us through in like 5 minutes pretty good for Heathrow. And it was now that we realized our flight had been DELAYED by 2 HOURS because our aircraft who was coming from MIA to LHR left almost 4 hours late. Since now we had so much more time to kill, we searched for lounges and we found an admirals club just a bit forward of the passport control 🛂 and we simply just had some small bites and got some work done since we wanted to make most of the time in the air just relaxing and enjoying the lie flat seats and meals you’d come to expect on an international business class flight. This lounge is pretty similar to the AA arrivals lounge here at Heathrow featuring similar amenities but I’m going to give the arrivals lounge the edge mostly because the staff were slightly friendlier but these people were good to! I didn’t spend the entire layover in the lounge as I wanted to somewhat explore what was around terminal 3 and like I pretty much expected, lots of duty free stores I had a few spare British pounds 💷 with me since I thought I’d need them to ride the Heathrow express and bought myself a really nice perfume. Soon enough we were off to the gate to check on our flight and it was pretty much getting cleaned up and serviced to take us back to the 305! 🏝️😎

FLIGHT INFO

Origin: London Heathrow 🇬🇧 (EGLL)
Destination: Miami Intl 🇺🇸 (KMIA)
Flight Time: 9:35
Boeing 777-300ER (American Airlines)
Server: Expert

Taking us back home this afternoon will be N734AR a 9 year old Boeing 777-300ER delivered new to American in October 2015. Unfortunately, this is the best view of our aircraft since we got assigned the worst possible gate in terms of outdoor views but I’ve flown countless AA B77Ws at this point so I’m pretty sure you all know what it looks like anyways 😅 since we were already late, they began boarding as quickly as possible and once again as flagship business passengers, we boarded pretty much right after pre boarders.

All of Americans 777-300ERs have 304 seats in a 4 class configuration so I’m not going to into specifics again but our seats will once again be 6A for myself and my parents back in 6D and G. A lot of the similar amenities are waiting for us once again except a water bottle probably because this is an all day time flight or at least it was supposed to be. The crew once again came around with pre departure beverages in which I got myself another gin and tonic served in ANOTHER plastic cup I asked once again and they once again said, the glasses are reserved for the meal service later on. I was just curious if this crew would have a different story about the plastic cups. Given we were already late, as soon as the final passengers boarded, the jet bridge disconnected, we pushed back, fired up our 2 GE90 engines and made our way to LHRs runway 27R for take off!

Bye bye UK! 🇬🇧

Soon after departure, we started turning a bit in a southwestern direction to get us on track for Miami 🏝️😎 and look at the view down below of not only Heathrow airport but part of London as well!

After the previous said turn, we started heading directly west again and pretty much followed a curvature route entirely over the Atlantic Ocean 🌊 and our next sight of land wouldn’t be till we begin our descent into MIA by the Bahamas 🇧🇸 we’d be cruising at an altitude of 36,000ft for this time and the crew began the meal service pretty much as we left the British skies behind and began crossing the ocean. For the main course I decided to go with the chicken milanesa topped with some mozzarella cheese 🧀 🍗 which came with some french fries or like the Brit’s call them, chips 🍟 a fresh salad 🥗 a chocolate cake for dessert 🎂 and a warm bread roll 🍞 along with a choice of beverage which I just got myself a tasty refreshing coke, now once again a very phenomenal meal service no complains from me nor my parents. This crew was good but not as good as my previous AA crew or even Dan from my first British Airways flight to CDG but I still do think they earn 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After the service wrapped up, every started doing their own thing either catching up in rest, watching a movie or getting work done and I decided I’d just watch movies the whole time since I completed all my work and didn’t want to sleep on this flight to make majority of the time in this seat. I decided to pop on the good old Barbie since I haven’t seen it in a while and lots of people have been referencing the movie because of some recent events in the United States 🇺🇸 which I’ll avoid just to keep this place controversy free. Once that wrapped up we were still quite a while away from our next service let alone Miami 🏝️😎 so I decided searching for more movies and than found 2 movies that I really wanted to watch, Home Alone and Jurassic Park but I decided to chose the latter since it’s been longer since I’ve seen and besides it’s not even Thanksgiving 🦃 yet let alone December and my next Christmas 🎄 trip will be to a snowy place this around and so far I’m booked on one of AAs unique A319s with IFE screens which will hopefully feature Home Alone for the occasion but let’s just sit back, relax and enjoy Jurassic Park!

One thing I was hoping to experience on this flight was the sunset 🌅 over the Bahamas 🇧🇸 or even Miami Beach, unfortunately our late departure costed us that and the sun began setting while we were STILL 90 minutes away from MIA right by Bermuda 🇧🇲 but that doesn’t change the fact it still a GORGEOUS sight 😍 And it was right around now that the final meal service came along which was breakfast? This is so odd I mean it’s going to be about 6-7pm by the time we land and it will be midnight or so in London so who thought loading breakfast onto this flight was a good idea? We were served a warm ham and cheese croissant sandwich 🥐 along with a beverage of choice which I went with another Coke simply because coffee or orange juice at this would just be ridiculous in my opinion. I still enjoyed this service but I still just found it extremely weird and even though we still might’ve had time to watch another movie, the crew thought otherwise and COLLECTED our headphones and I didn’t bring a spare with me and the screens don’t have Bluetooth connectivity so I can’t use my AirPods so I simply put the moving map on, got up and walked around the cabin and even heading into the galley to see if the crew had some time for chit chat, and they did but there is one guy in specific, Thomas who is Heathrow based and loves to fly to Miami 🏝️😎 a lot to enjoy some time away from the UK 🇬🇧 and said he’s been working on the 777 family since 2011 and even booked a day trip to JFK solely to fly it a waste of money according to many but to him, a dream come true. I even asked him if he knew anything about the future of AA and he said not much except B77W retrofits are coming soon and even invited me into the flagship first cabin to try it out one more time before it’s extinct and while we’re both excited to see the new flagship suites come, we’re also sad to see these go as they are the only remaining true first class in the US 🇺🇸 and after some more talking, he advised me to return to my seat as we’d be beginning the approach into Miami 🏝️😎 soon in the dark.

It’s reverse ops day here in the 305 🏝️😎 meaning we will simply fly over the straights of Florida by Palm Beach County before heading more inland by Broward County before crossing dade, flying directly over Miami Beach, Biscayne Bay and Downtown itself before coming to land on MIAs RWY 26L. Now I would’ve preferred a sunset view over the city, a night time view on the left side of the plane is worth something as well in my book but let’s just sit back, relax and enjoy this landing!

TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Miami 🏝️😎 and the end of this trip to Paris, France 🇫🇷 and really enjoyed both aspects of this trip the city and the flights, yeah British Airways club Europe wasn’t all that special but I wasn’t expecting it to be special and my expectations for that were met just wish extra legroom was provided as well. As for American Airlines flagship business, it was once again a really fun experience with great seats, great meals although a weird one at the end and a fantastic crew. My only complaints will be maybe serve lunch at the beginning of the flight and a light dinner at the end since breakfast makes no sense and don’t collect the headphones early on and maybe wait till 30 minutes before landing to do so and of course we have that delay which is just subjective as delays can happen on any airline on random days and besides I did this exact LHR connection back in June 2023 on my Skiathos, Greece 🇬🇷 trip and BOTH legs to and from MIA were on time. But to be truthful, you probably won’t find me back in business class often unless it’s a special occasion like this trip was for me and my parents and I also really want to save money for the new flagship suites to hopefully review them in the future but if you are considering it, flagship business is a really good way to travel!

Welcome back to Miami International Airports concourse D home of American Airlines and now it’s off to passport control 🛂 which isn’t a far walk from D28 where we parked and I snagged this shot 📸 of our aircraft who had just brought us here from Heathrow. Unfortunately, the delay meant that we’d be arriving at a peak hour for immigration as a lot of Caribbean, Central and South American flights arrive around this time including the flight from Cali, Colombia 🇨🇴 I often take. Luckily global entry wasn’t all too busy and I was soon back into the US 🇺🇸 but my parents had to wait in the normal line since they didn’t have global entry but they said it looked long but didn’t take long and I collected their bags for them while I was waiting but before we left the terminal and we were in the main baggage claim 🛄 facility, I noticed a TON of people with a TON of bags which means one thing, the snowbirds are back to invade the 305 🏝️😎 till at least the Spring Breakers come and kick them out in March before things finally go back to normal in April 😅 Anyways it’s off to our car, eat an ACTUAL dinner not some breakfast dinner and make our way back home to prepare for Thanksgiving 🦃 that’s it regarding this flight on American Airlines from London Heathrow, UK 🇬🇧 to Miami 🏝️😎 on their Boeing 777-300ER in flagship business and this trip to the famous Paris, France 🇫🇷 stay tuned for late December as we do the opposite of the snowbirds and go straight into the snow ❄️ and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
