Good afternoon and happy Martin Luther King Jr day from Jackson Hole! I’m hoping everybody is enjoying their day off today. Today is not so much of a free day for me as I’m pretty much spending the whole day flying as today I’ll begin the journey back home to Miami 🏝️😎 via Chicago O’Hare again on American Airlines on their Airbus A319 and Boeing 737-800 later on. We will only be covering the first segment to ORD for today, since Jackson isn’t that big of an airport I wasn’t in a huge rush to get here as I’ve already checked in online and got a bonus don’t have any bags needing to be checked so once I did get here it was straight to security which didn’t take long at all. JAC and Eagle are both very unique airports in the US especially with the terrain surrounding both of them. We fly through mountains, valleys and sometimes descend extremely steep and once we touch down. We slam on the brakes thanks to the short runways and fairly high elevation not making things better. But the decor of BOTH airports are really aesthetically right for the area. It’s like a tiny winter shack and I’m all for it I mean winter is my favorite season of the year. There wasn’t a whole ton to do post security as it was a smaller airport but the one thing that made the wait time to board worth it was the views of the mountains behind the airport. 🏔️

Here at gate 2 fresh from Dallas Fort Worth is N9026C, an Airbus A319 delivered to American January 2015 so happy 10 years 🎉 looking at the landscape behind makes me really sad that I have to leave since I really enjoyed both my trips to Jackson and Eagle and will always remain as some of the funnest trips I’ve taken in a while but we gotta clear the old to make space for the new so let’s just board and hope that day comes sooner rather than later.
This A319 has the same setup as the one that took me from O’Hare to JAC so I won’t entirely go into specifics again but I will take a bit about the economy cabin as that is where I’m stuck today since this flight was perfectly on time and no vouchers were given for free upgrades. 120 Collins Pinnacle seats can be found across the entirety of the economy cabin in a 3-3 configuration with 24 of them being extra legroom main cabin extra seats. 20A will be my home for this 2 and a half hour hop east to the Windy City. The seat is pretty comfortable for the short hubs these aircraft commonly do but may get a bit more tiring on longer flights like Miami to Paramaribo, Suriname 🇸🇷 which saw them until the route and ended along with the EX MIA → JAC flights and the current flight to Eagle. The door soon closed, we pushed back and made our way to JACs runway 19 for take off and taxiing with a Mountain View in the background was an experience never to forget.
Bye bye, Jackson!
Last view over the Bison 🦬 fields, Jackson Hole Airport and the Grand Teton National Park along with the Grand Teton itself as we begin our journey to the Midwest.
We flew pretty much the exact same route we did when we flew to Jackson but of course going the other way. We’d be cruising at 39,000ft and the crew wasted no time getting the service started and it was kind of disappointing to get snacks after a full meal on my previous flight but it’s like I say, I full meal for economy passengers on shorter domestic flights isn’t 100% necessary and the pretzels and coke 🥨🥤I got were well enough for me until I found something to get once on the ground in O’Hare. The crew were really nice and active except one, not that he was rude with us it was since he had to work a flight to London Heathrow, UK 🇬🇧 after this and needed to watch an unaccompanied minor so I can somewhat understand his stress and frustration but good thing he didn’t take it out on us so this crew earns 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ down below you can see where the states of Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska meet up and after all Rockies cleared up. It was time to check out the IFE which is the same in both first and economy and both provide a good amount of content to watch along with a few games and the moving map. I popped on Family Guy and decided to sit back and relax for pretty much, enjoy the flight.
A few episodes later, we found ourselves crossing right above Sioux Falls passing along the Missouri River before we’d reach the mighty Mississippi and we are back in the Midwest but still somewhat a distance from Chicago.
The sun was soon setting 🌅 along with the first segment of my return home as we’d soon begin the approach into O’Hare. We flew over the northern suburbs passing by the airport on right downwind before flying a bit over Lake Michigan to turn base and come into land on the infamous RWY 27R. Here we are passing by Rockford just a few miles away from ORD.
I finally picked the right seat for approaches into O’Hare as after our base turn, I was greeted with a distant but amazing view over the city as we prepare for landing on ORDs RWY 27R!
TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Chicago O’Hare. As for the flight, it was great and nothing out of the ordinary it was very scenic, good crew except that one stressed guy and very comfortable seats and sufficient entertainment so no complaints from me today American! Now what makes RWY 27R/9L At ORD so infamous? Well it’s actually the furthest one from the terminals we arrived 20 minutes early which is good but thanks to the long taxi time, we actually pulled into the game slightly behind schedule which wasn’t the worst thing in the world as my next flight to Miami 🏝️😎 wasn’t for another hour and for us aviation enthusiasts, a good way to see the action of ORD but I could see how this would slightly inconvenience others.
After the eternity it took to reach the gate, we finally reached it. My next flight to MIA was simply down the concourse at gate H4. But I decided to wonder a bit mainly to find a place to eat since I arrive pretty late back home and it’ll be midnight by the time I drive back. We are just going to leave it off here on my search for food, thank you for joining me on this flight from Jackson Hole to Chicago O’Hare on American Airlines on their Airbus A319, stay tuned for my next flight on AA to the 305 🏝️😎 on the Boeing 737-800 and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
