Good afternoon and most importantly, Merry Christmas! 🎄 from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 and before we begin with our trip today here is my little gift for you 👇
I hope you liked, and so far we haven’t done a whole ton while staying in the area the most we did was stop by a bit on our way to Niagara Falls but that’s pretty much it but like I said, we are saving the majority of Toronto for last. Right now we are currently making our way over to Pearson airport to catch a 1 hour domestic hop over to Quebec City appropriately located in the province of Quebec. QC is the ONLY part of Canada 🇨🇦 where French is spoken why? Because this part of the country was actually colonised by the French rather than the British who did with the rest of the country. Me and my whole group are all only bringing backpacks since we’d be coming back to Toronto in a short few days and the fact we checked in online meant that we could go straight to security as soon as we got here but not without troubles, as expected on Christmas Day, the area was PACKED luckily there was still quite a few officers which chose to double inspect me which was tough for them since I was wearing all sorts of winter clothes and that simply made the process longer. We had already eaten breakfast earlier before leaving to the airport and we planned to have lunch and dinner in Quebec so I truly didn’t matter at this point so we just went around seeing what shops and aircraft we can find scattered around YYZs terminal 1.

Airbus A319-100 (Air Canada)

Our ride across to Quebec City this afternoon will be C-GBIA, an April 1998 built Airbus A319 who spent its entire life with Air Canada well sort of since in September 2015 it was transferred to Air Canada Jazz their regional subsidiary before rejoining the mainline fleet in July 2023. This plane is old but will the interior be old? Let’s get on board and check it out.
All of Air Canadas A319s have 120 seats in 2 class setup with 14 cradles seats being used in a 2-2 configuration for the business class along with generic 106 slimline seats in the typical 3-3 configuration for economy with 26 of them being f extra legroom seats. My seat for this 1 hour will be 27F and to my surprise, there is actually an entertainment screen and Wi-Fi seems to be available but more on that later. As you’d expect from older seats, they don’t offer a whole ton of amenities like power ports and still missing but they are much more comfortable than modern ones for sure. Thankfully it wasn’t snowing 🌨️ so ice couldn’t build up on the wings meaning we wouldn’t need to de-ice so we can head straight to runway 05 right after our pushback!
YYZ is a pretty big airport so it took us longer to get to the runway than I initially thought, the taxi took longer than the de-icing would’ve lasted but that doesn’t matter too much now as we are finally airborne!
My right side seat once again payed off as we flew right by Toronto once again giving me a great view of Downtown, CN Tower, Billy Bishop airport and a view over Lake Ontario!
Our route pretty much took us along the highway leading to Montreal and also the St. Lawrence River heading straight to Quebec City. We cruised at an altitude of 33,000ft and like I anticipated, no service was given but I’d come to expect that on shorter flights no matter the class of service, especially after what I learned last month on my way to Paris, France 🇫🇷 in British Airways club Europe 😂 Now let’s get into the entertainment on board since I was so curious about it, the Thales TopFlight I-4500 is present and the system is pretty old with not a whole lot of content but it is a short flight after all so who cares and Intelsat ATG ground based WiFi is installed but I skipped out on it like usual and instead played a game with a friend who got seated with me for pretty much the whole flight. Soon enough we cruised right by Montreal and down there is a view of Mirabel Airport the former airport serving the city before the current Trudeau airport was built but still serves a purpose as the manufacturing point of the Bombardier C Series or like everybody knows it now, the Airbus A220s.
Soon enough we began our approach into Quebec City, we simply passed right by the airport and city on right downwind before turning base over a few hills and coming to land of RWY 24 and down below, you can see YQB airport, the city and even the St. Lawrence River!
It got dark pretty quickly as we made that base turn and flew right over the city preparing to land
TOUCHDOWN!!! Welcome to Quebec City, this flight was pretty straightforward no service, decent seats, and a good crew I’m still somewhat shocked about having IFE screens although they were extremely old and lacked some content but other than that, Air Canada was pretty average on this short flight.
Here we are, welcome to Jean Lesage Intl Airport and since we didn’t bring any checked bags with us, we are able to continue straight to the exit and hop into an uber off to a buffet near our hotel to drop off our belongings and go explore the rest of the city and save the surrounding areas like some tubing parks and even the ice hotel for tomorrow as it is my grandpas birthday. That will be it for this Air Canada flight from Toronto to Quebec City, Canada 🇨🇦 on their outdated Airbus A319 stay tuned for our next even shorter hop to Montreal on their Rouge subsidiary and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
