TRIPREPORT: Air Canada Rouge | Quebec City (YQB) -> Montreal (YUL) | Economy | Airbus A319

Good evening from Quebec City, Canada 🇨🇦 where I’ve been staying in since Christmas night and generally enjoyed my stay here, the city was really nice and I really had a good time at the little resort kind of place where they had tubing mountains that were much better than this one hill near our friends house in Keswick not to mention that the ice hotel is there as well and it was a nice brief 30 minute stay as it actually isn’t a hotel I’m pretty sure and even if it was, I wouldn’t stay in it. Today we will begin the journey back west to Ontario but with a brief stop in the biggest city of the Quebec province, Montreal we will be flying on Air Canada once again but this time on their rouge subsidiary which is basically their leisure focused brand aiming at serving top leisure routes which is why they are pretty big in Florida 🏝️🐊🍊 and the Caribbean. We arrived at Quebec City’s Jean airport which isn’t big at all which means along with the very little bags we were bringing anyways, we were pretty much through the checkpoint and the departures hall in like 10 minutes. There wasn’t a whole ton to do here except for plane spotting which was also kind of boring due to the lack of fun aircraft at YQB especially at this time of night.

FLIGHT INFO:

Origin: Quebec Jean Lesage Intl 🇨🇦 (CYQB)
Destination: Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau 🇨🇦 (CYUL)
Flight Time: 0:33
Airbus A319-100 (Air Canada Rouge)
Server: Expert

My ride for the brief flight west will be C-FYKW a July 1997 built Airbus A319 spending its early years with the base Air Canada brand before being transferred over to Rouge in December 2013 and before we board here is a useless fact, the word “Rouge” means Red in French! 🇫🇷

Rouge’s A319s have 136 seats in them and in a somewhat shock they have a 2 class setup in here. Up front is their premium rouge which have 12 Collins Aerospace Spectrum First seats in the typical 2-2 configuration and the remaining 124 Collins Aerospace Pinnacle seats in the typical 3-3 configuration. Only the first economy row and exit seats are extra legroom seats so even my seat fairly close to the front of the plane 14F, is just a plain old economy seat. Power is only available in the premium rouge cabin and the seat isn’t too comfortable but it is a budget friendly airline after all so what did I expect? Well this is a small airport so that means we won’t have long taxi at all to runway 24 for take off!

Bye bye, Quebec City!

Just a peaceful flyby over the beautiful landscapes over Quebec.

We climbed up to a very brief 22,000ft on our flight to YUL and like I’d come to expect on short flights especially in economy, nothing was given out and either way on Rouge nothing is free and everything is extra even water. This didn’t stop the crew from being very nice so still gotta give them credit for that!

This aircraft is fitted with Wi-Fi and I didn’t expect that only noticed it when we were already approaching Montreal, Gogo 2Ku satellite WiFi is present but like I’d expect from a leisure carrier offering it, it wouldn’t be free and sure enough it wasn’t and never bothered with it. But look at that view over the city even though I got quite a short day tomorrow on the ground. I should still be able to see and get a few things done tomorrow just gotta wake up pretty early.

Montreal is just along the St. Lawrence River like Quebec City so this was truly a flight along the river and here we are making the right base turn for RWY 06L with a view of the city and Trudeau airport along with it!

I gotta say something, flying in this cold weather is definitely one of my favourite things mainly because it’s really cozy inside planes so while most people outside are dealing with very cold air, we have warm cozy air inside our cabins.

TOUCHDOWN! Welcome to Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦 and as for Air Canada Rouge tonight, it was exactly what I was expecting nothing big at all especially if their mainline brand isn’t a whole ton better than Rouge on these shorter flights so maybe if you’d like to save some money on airfares trying flying rouge especially if your like us and didn’t bring a ton of baggage!

Welcome to Montreal’s Trudeau airport which has a pretty decent looking terminal but I wish I did look slightly better as Air Canadas Pearson terminal is just so much better compared to YULs but still not bad nonetheless, we went straight out once again as we didn’t have any checked bags with us and went straight to a dinner and to our hotel for the night since tomorrow is a big day for 2 reasons, 1 it’s my birthday 🎂 and 2 we gotta explore as much of Montreal as possible. That will be it regarding this short hop from Quebec City to Montreal on Air Canada Rouges Airbus A319 stay tuned tomorrow for the flight back to Toronto and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋
