Good afternoon from Phuket, Thailand and my goodness is this a wonderful place. Not only was my villa and the surrounding areas beautiful but even the city was very nice with great cuisine and friendly people. I’d definitely choose to retire here if I ever get the chance to just gotta practice my Thai because not knowing it kind of put me in a tough spot when exploring which is kind of strange despite Phuket being one of the most touristy spots in the country. You’d at least expect a bit more people to speak English or have a general understanding of it at least. Anyways I have a long time till I can even start to FULLY plan retirement so I think it’s just better that I get to the airport right now to catch my flight back to the nations capital of Bangkok once again on Air Asia’s Airbus A320-200 in economy class I’m glad your joining me once again.
I arrived at Phuket International Airport with 90 minutes before departure which may raise some concerns especially with my 2 checked bags but thankfully, the lines were really quick along with the security check so I was airside in pretty much 15 minutes. Like most foreign airports that I’ve gone through in my travels, they are split between a domestic section and an international section. This section obviously isn’t as nice or big as the international section would be but it’s not all bad. It was clean and wasn’t surprisingly crowded at this time of day which is a huge plus. It looks the same as a typical airport in the US but the Asian efficiency and general mood of the terminal made this experience much better than I’m used to in the states.

Airbus A320-200 (Air Asia)

Taking me back across to Bangkok this afternoon will be HS-CBA, an 8 year old Airbus A320-200 delivered to Air Asia in March 2017. This aircraft also seems to have a spotless record over its lifespan as it hasn’t been parked or put into long term storage ever! Boarding wasn’t exactly the smoothest process ever especially compared to my experience in BKK but still great with the rather claustrophobic feeling in this terminal.
This aircraft features the exact cabin as my previous flight so it’s once again straight to my seat 19F. The seats are pretty much the exact same comfort wise but it’s to be expected from low cost carriers and this is a short flight either way so it’s not a big deal. This cabin crew, cockpit crew and ramp crew all were really efficient into getting us out of here on time as we pushed back and had NO delay to HKTs runway 09.
Bye, bye Phuket!
The view coming into Phuket was very beautiful and the view climbing out was just as beautiful! Why? Well it’s the same exact view over the Thalay Ko Yao.
After that gorgeous climb out we reached our cruising altitude of 39,000ft
The crew actually came around to conduct a short service. Probably because this flight wasn’t as full as my flight to HKT. Since I didn’t eat anything in the terminal, I decided to order the Bukhara Chicken which set me back $2.35 which came along with a beverage choice which I chose a Coke. Was it the best thing I’ve ever had? No but did it taste great and fulfill the price tag? Yes! For barely even $2 I got a pretty decently sized meal about the same size as a basic combo at McDonald’s but much healthier. The crew were also friendly with one even offering a passenger a free brownie since they had to wait a long time for their meal, 5 stars
Entertainment wise, it’s pretty basic since we don’t have internet or plugs make sure you come prepared!
This flight pretty much flew by, no pun intended and it was soon time to begin our approach into Bangkok. We flew towards the airport over the Bay of Bangkok before reaching land by Bang Bo passing the airport of left downwind before turning base and coming to land on RWY 19. Out in the distance you can make out the city of Chon Buri.
While on the downwind leg, a bird with a camera came around and took this picture which looks great!

After a peaceful approach over the fields, we were soon on final for BKKs RWY 19 and my goodness is the landscape stunning to look at!
TOUCHDOWN! Welcome back to Bangkok, Thailand!

As an aviation enthusiast, it was a nice treat to see us using a remote stand and buses rather than a traditional jet bridge. Short ride across Suvarnabhumi International Airport later, we have arrived in the terminal and the Asian efficiency continues here as my 2 checked bags showed up pretty quickly and I was soon able to exit the terminal and make my way back to central Bangkok to get some last minute things done before beginning the long journey back home.
That will be it regarding this flight on Air Asia’s Airbus A320-200 in economy class from Phuket to Bangkok, Thailand stay tuned for the first segment of my return home on a very special aircraft and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky!
