Trip to Colombia 🇨🇴

I woke up around 5:00 in the morning, I was still very tired but excited since I was going to Colombia for the week! It took me about 1 hour to get ready and another one to drive from my home in Palm Beach to Miami Intl Airport where I’m gonna catch a flight on an American Airlines 737-800 to Cali, the 3rd most populous city

LEG #1

Origin: Miami Intl ( KMIA )
Destination: Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Intl ( SKCL
)
Flight Time: 3:10
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800

Here is the 737-800 taking me to Cali this morning luckily we boarded on time, the captain was very experienced with the 737 and all the cabin crew were Colombian natives 🇨🇴

Before I knew it, we were airborne, Cali here we come, some ramp agent took a picture of us taking off on Runway 8R

We climbed up to 35,000ft and reached it just between the Florida Keys and Cuba 🇨🇺 the Bahamas 🇧🇸 can be seen!

Service began over Cuba 🇨🇺 they handed us pretzels and I asked for a coke as my beverage, not much but it was better than nothing

After passing Jamaica 🇯🇲 I went to the aft galley to chat with some of the FAs, there were all really nice and had a lot of to say about this route and Colombia 🇨🇴, I even told them my dream job is to be a flight attendant or pilot on this route between KMIA and SKCL.

After like and hour and a half of chatting, we reached the Caribbean coast of Colombia! 🇨🇴

About 10 minutes later there was a bit of turbulence and the captain turned on the fasten seatbelt sign, I soon went back to my seat and fastened my seatbelt and stayed there for the rest of the flight

We started our descent short after flying past Medellín, the 2nd most populated city, the most populous obviously being the capital Bogotá

We were now in the valley which I hadn’t seen in 8 years it’s good to see it again!

About 3 days before this flight I was watching Mayday and I watched the video about AA 965 which crashed into im assuming this mountain while on approach to SKCL

Soon enough we were on final for RWY 02 at SKCL! Cali off in the distance

Touchdown! Welcome to Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia 🇨🇴 it’s good to be back!

We parked at gate D17 in this new International terminal at SKCL which wasn’t here the last time and in contrast to the last time, it was around midday were last time it was almost midnight

Now I’m off to do the worst part of international travel, Passport Control it took soo long

I had a long time here before my next flight to San Andrés, I decided to explore the city and visit my friends and families living in the area including my cousin who is coming with me to San Andrés but let’s now skip to about 5:00am I officially went 24 hours w/o sleeping!

LEG #2

Origin: Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Intl ( SKCL )
Destination: Gustavo Rojas Pinilla Intl ( SKSP )
Flight Time: 1:32
Aircraft: Airbus A320-200

We are taking LATAM Colombia this morning! A subsidiary of LATAM Airlines Group which is based in Chile 🇨🇱

Unlike the AA pilot, this one was new to the aircraft type on flying it 5 times before this flight, and unlucky for him, we got faced with a bit of a crosswind on take off, so the take off was really rough which didn’t help since I was pretty tired already

I took this pic shortly after take off of us leaving the valley

We were soon leaving the Pacific coast of Colombia 🇨🇴 behind! I also believe Colombia 🇨🇴 is the ONLY country in South America with access to two oceans

The seatbelt sign remained on for most of the flight since there was A LOT of turbulence which really sucked since I really wanted to sleep but I really couldn’t, anyways here is us flying over Panama 🇵🇦 about an hour into the flight

Short after leaving Panama 🇵🇦 behind, we began out descent into San Andrés

The approach was over water the entire time which looked really nice and soon enough, we were on final for RWY 06 and SKSP!

The approach is really nice but it does feel like your going to land in the water until you see the beach randomly pop up

Despite the rough take off, the landing actually was pretty good especially since there was no ILS and he had to visually approach the runway, anyways welcome to San Andrés, San Andrés y Providencia, Colombia 🇨🇴

Here in San Andrés, you actually board via, airstairs which is great since you get to be up close and personal with the planes out here, anyways once I deplaned I took this pic

Normally, I’d go have fun but right now I’m off to find a bed, thanks for coming along with me!

( this was my 1st time doing this so I apologise if the pictures aren’t that good )
