Good afternoon or boa tardefrom a food court here at Humberto Delgado International Airport in Lisbon, PRT
I arrived here from Miami, FL ![]()
About an hour ago and I’m now continuing the rest of my journey to Madrid, ESP
We’ll still be flying with TAP Air Portugal but now on their Embraer E190 in economy class. Most of us wanted to get a bite to eat since our pre arrival meal from our MIA - LIS flight wasn’t exactly a meal more like a snack being honest. I got myself a chicken sandwich at a cafe style restaurant, it was pretty good apart from the fact it had a little too much mayonnaise. While we were eating, a crowd near us screamed “GOAL!!!” the reason? Well Portugal
scored against DR Congo
in their World Cup match today. My country’s team, Colombia
also plays today against Uzbekistan
at like 10:00pm EDT which is like 4:00am in Madrid. After we wrapped up our meal, we made our way to the gate or gate area really as it seems like today, we’ll be using a bus gate.
Boarding began shortly after we arrived at just like the situation at MIA, we all crowded up to the sole door. The staff here were probably very overwhelmed. And just like I had predicted, we will be using a bus to get to our aircraft
FLIGHT INFO:
Origin: Humberto Delgado
(LIS/LPPT)
Destination: Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas
(MAD/LEMD)
Flight Time: 1:00
Embraer E190 (TAP Express)
Server: None (Real Life)
My ride to Madrid this evening will be CS-TPS, a 14 year old Embraer E190 originally delivered to TRIP Linhas Aéreas in December 2011 before transferring to Azul in March 2013. It left Brazil
TAP Express E190s have 106 seats in a 2-2 configuration regardless if you’re in business or economy class. All seats are the same model which I unfortunately, could not find online if anybody knows the model, please enlighten me.
I’ll be seated in seat 26A for this flight across the Iberia Peninsula. It is decently comfortable for the hops this plane is designed for so no complaints about that. Power of any sorts is also missing which isn’t all that necessary on a flight this long but it would’ve still been very much appreciated. Apart from that, it’s pretty much typical from what you’d expect from Embraer E Jet aircraft so nothing else to say really. There was no need for pushback at our gate, we were able to taxi straight after firing up our engines and make our way to LISs RWY 03 for take off!
Until the end Lisbon!
We reached our cruising altitude of 34,000ft just outside of Ponte de Sor, PRT
The crew also began their meal service quickly as we would be descending not long after as well. We had the same chocolates
we got on our MIA - LIS flight and only water for our beverage which is fine. I mean they could’ve have us nothing at all, so this is very much well appreciated. One thing they do have is a buy on board menu with a lot of other options. This is one thing that European airlines beat US airlines on, whether they be full service carriers like TAP or even low costs carriers like we will see later on this trip.
As for the entertainment, either be ready to unplug or have some content downloaded. WiFi is NOT available at all and neither are seatback screens so if you don’t have anything downloaded, don’t have a book, or window to look out of it, have fun trying to figure out what to do to pass the time. Luckily, I did have a window seat and the views outside were amazing so I simply looked outside at the landscape below
From the sunny skies earlier to the more cloudy skies near Montalvão, PRT
Soon enough, it was time for us to begin our approach into Madrid. We would continue our north east trek before making a 90 degree left base turn to land on MADs RWY 18R.
One thing I learned as a newbie in Europe is that the sun sets very late, at least in the Iberian Peninsula as it’s about 9:00pm and we would exit the airport at 10:00pm with some light still left. I’m not complaining about this however as it made our approach 10x better
We are already heading towards the airport just passing right above El Molar, ESP
In the same general area, our flaps came down and our gear was lowered meaning we were now on our final approach into MADs RWY 18R
TOUCHDOWN! Welcome to Madrid, ESP
Welcome to Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas International Airport! When we initially arrived, I thought we were going to be at another bus gate but we ended up getting a jet bridge instead. No need for passport control
That will be it regarding this flight from Lisbon, PRT
to Madrid, ESP
on TAP Air Portugal’s Embraer E190 in economy class and I hoped you liked it. Stay tuned for Sunday as we visit our next airport and try our next airline and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! ![]()
