Hello! Come with me as I fly to Europe for my second time. Additionally, this was my first time on a special livery aircraft.
1 - ORD
Surprisingly, ORD terminal 5 was not busy at all. Bag check and TSA took less than 15 minutes. So, we made our way to M14. This being my first time departing from T5, I decided to do some planespotting. It did not disappoint!
2 - Boarding and Departure
Unfortunately, the positioning of concourse M makes it almost impossible to see the plane parked at gate M14 from the terminal. So, enjoy some premium boarding screens ($10 each).
Boarding was a bit of a mess. Instructions were clear, but the lines were not defined or long enough. Nevertheless, I made it to my seat, 33A. Something I noticed about SAS is that their economy is 2-4-2, which made these seats quite cozy.
We managed to get LUAW before the insanely long queue that awaited. Our takeoff was slow, but soon enough we were airborne.
3 - Dinner, Cruise, IFE, Breakfast
As a precaution, we ordered premium meals. For dinner, i had bread, crackers, cheese, a quinoa salad, some beef, cornbread, and some dessert. Overall, this meal gets a 8.5/10.
During cruise, I played some (rigged) solitaire, and watched some early perseids meteors. This brings me to IFE. I didn’t end up watching much except the flight tracker, front cameras, and playing solitaire. The screens were good, but they were not very responsive.
For breakfast, it was much “cheaper.” We got OJ and a very mid breakfast sandwich.
4 - Landing and Deplaning
Our landing was buttery smooth, as usual for an A330. However, I fully did not realize how loud the landing gear on the A330 was. After a quick cockpit visit, I deplaned to the massive massive massive passport control lines.
A better view of our plane was found at CPH.
Overall, SAS gets a 8.5/10! Very nice service and I look forwards to flying with them again.
