TRIP REPORT + RATING! GDN-ZRH operated by Helvetic.

Welcome to Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport, the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s main hub and
and the gateway to places like Scandinavia, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Ryanair,Wizz Air and BUZZ all have hubs there. I also got to talk to the crew of BUZZ before their flight to Wroclaw. This pic is from February.

Our ride for today! A Helvetic Airways E190 with the registration HB-JVM. This plane is 15 years old and was delivered to Helvetic in 2015. This plane came in from Gdańsk (LX1380) and after our flight headed to Marseille.

Boarding began 10 minutes later than scheduled but here we are. Seat 22F, a window seat overlooking the wing of the aircraft. We’ll be flying over large cities such as Szczecin, Berlin , Leipzig and Stuttgart.

And we depart Gdańsk 10 mins late. We departed off of runway 29 and headed west-bound where we’ll be cruising at about 36000 feet.

We reach cruising altitude at FL360 so the awesome cabin crew begin their in-flight service where they hand out Valser water and delicious Swiss-branded chocolates before then continuing with their in-flight shopping service where you can buy everything from watches to model aircraft. They don’t accept cash so have your card out if interested.

We land at Zurich about 5-10 mins late due to entering a holding pattern near the Swiss-German border. We exit right runway 14 and see a lot of wide-bodies at the E dock mainly heading to the U.S. but also the Middle East and Asia. Zürich was using 14 for arrivals and 28 + 16 for departures. We cross the runway simultaneously with a KLM 737 of which I don’t have a pic. We get assigned a bus and view Aegean and EasyJet’s A320 aircraft departing.
