Trip Report! El Al flight 004 JFK-TLV

Time to go home! After visiting family and a fun visit to my old country, I had to get back home before school starts on Sunday, so here’s my flight.

I had to wake up at 6am for the flight, I showered, made sure I had all my stuff, and then loaded the car. We left at 7. My grandparents drove us, which was nice because I got to see them an extra 20 minutes (they’re anyways up long before 7am). I said bye and then I went to check in. My sister’s bought way to much clothes and we all bought so much stuff that we can’t get in Israel, so we ended up having to check in 5 bags.

Check in was much easier than TLV, which is a mad house especially when checking in luggage, so we came with only carry-on’s. We have TSA pre-check so security went fast. It’s always packed security at T4 at JFK, so it helped a lot. Then we went to the Virgin Atlantic lounge, since my dad is platinum on El Al’s matmid program. I forgot to take pictures. But I did go plane spotting from there. (Plane spotting topic coming tomorrow)
Here’s my plane:

We boarded and I made my way to my seat. The seats pretty basic, it comes with a pillow and a blanket, the IFE, is pretty good. I had pretty good legroom, as my parents got all of us extra space. I’m only 5”4 so it was nice even with my backpack

We pushed back very far to the remote stands. We were next to the big boy Emirates.

Holding short before runway 31L as an American 787-9 takes-off to Tokyo Haneda

Take off!

The food was pretty bad compared to the catering out of Tel Aviv. It was meatballs with couscous, a slice of cake, veggies, hummus and a bread roll

Cruise was boring as usual. I watched Dumb and Dumber to (yes to instead of two, it’s a hilarious movie) I also watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. There’s nothing to see about cruse.
Landing on runway 12 1 hour early!! It makes such a difference at 3am!

My plane, sorry for the black dots, they have it at all windows in TLV.

I hoped you enjoyed this detailed trip report!

It’s definitely much more chill than Tel Aviv, but still tight-ish. I asked to go in the cockpit like in middle of the flight for after landing, at first, the lady said probably not because of security, but the next time I went to the back to use the bathroom she said that she asked if I could, and I could go in at the end of the flight! But…. My parents said no, because it was 3am
