Trim Change

Hi everyone, I just want to know how you guys do your trim. Do you go to 0% during your cruise? And how and when do you change your trim during your descent?

well i mean i usually just keep the takeoff trim and change it before descending
i dont think trim is affected much during cruise

Yeah that’s what I thought. And do you change the trim when you change flaps?

I know I was just wondering at what point during the descent do you change to landing trim.

depends on what is happening for me with the aircraft I’m flying, you got to experiment with the plane!

It depends…

Weight, winds, aircraft, speed are all factors.

Usually I will keep it at 0%, but if the aircraft is pitching up or we are too heavy I may add some.

On the 737, I usually set the trim to a minimum of 30% positive right before final approach so the nose of the plane doesnt come crashing down after landing. Between 30 and 50% positive trim works for me.

On takeoff, I set it to at least 10% positive trim so the nose gently rises off the ground once I hit rotation speed and apply some back pressure on the yoke…

Trim doesnt affect the cruise too much.

So thank you again
