As Thanksgiving is upon us here in the states, I thought “no better way to celebrate than with family!” So, thats what I did.
I embarked on a cross-country journey from the Emerald City to the vast plains for Virginia to be with my family this thanksgiving holiday.
Flight Information
- Alaska Airlines 4
- Boeing 737-890 (15 years)
- N517AS
- SEA-DCA
The day started at 4am for me, having to be up and out the door for our 5am Uber to Sea-Tac.
- SeaTac was bustling at 5:40am
- After using TSA to our advantage, my family and I got through in under 10 minutes, and then we had to catch the underground train to the North Satellite
- This was my first time in the North Satellite since its renovation, and I will say, the energy, vibes and looks of the place is great!
- Boarding begin at 8am, and I found myself situated in seat 12F for today’s flight
- Our flight was packed to the brim and fueled for our journey, after our turn-n-burn departure outta Seattle, we turned and passed by Mount Rainier
- We reached cruising altitude at 35,000ft and the food and beverage service began. I had pre-ordered the best cheese and fruit platter and the Northwest Deli Snack Pack. Both fantastic!
- The flight was rather uneventful, we passed over the snow capped mountains as I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail (10/10)
- Decent began, into the sunset draped D.C landscape
- The landing was great, I thought it would be on the rough side, but you should never discount Alaska Airlines and their pilots, will say, those brakes worked a charm!
Welp, that just about wraps this up. From Coast to Coast and across the skies, I wish you all and your families a happy and healthy thanksgiving and a fantastic rest of the year! And for those who might not celebrate, have a fantastic end of 2024!
