Travel Update: Delta One Suites, WestJet Dash 8 Q400 and more!

I’m creating this topic because I just wanted to share my travel plans for the upcoming year. I think they are pretty interesting with some unusual planes, airlines, and seats featured.

  1. Toronto:
I’m taking a multi-city trip this November from Minneapolis to Toronto to Boston, then back to Minneapolis. However, I’m taking an aircraft that I’ve never flown before- the WestJet Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.

  2. Argentina
I’m also going to Southern Argentina to cities such as El Calafate and Ushuaia to see the Patagonian Glaciers. I’m flying Delta to JFK, then Aerolíneas Argentinas’ A330-200 to Buenos Aires and connecting on Austral Líneas Aereas (basically Aerolíneas Argentinas regional) to El Calafate. Later I’ll be taking more Aerolíneas 737s and Austral e190s to Ushuaia, Córdoba, and Mendoza before flying back to Ezeiza and connecting to JFK and eventually MSP.

  1. Quebec City
My third trip is to Quebec City for sightseeing and a Ski trip on Mont Saint Anne. I’m flying Delta to Toronto, then taking WestJet Encore’s Dash 8 Q400 to YQB (see above photos)

  2. India
My last major trip this upcoming year is what I’m most excited for. I’m going to India to see family and to do some sightseeing. I haven’t gone in several years and now I decided to go again. I didn’t want the trip to be horrendous, so I searched for days for the best deal on Business Class. Eventually, I found an amazing deal: Dallas to Delhi via Paris on an Air France A330-200, and the return was Bombay to Dallas via JFK on a Delta 777-200LR (with Delta One Suites!) connecting onto an A220 to DFW. While in India, I’ll be taking a variety of airlines and aircraft including Vistara, IndiGo, Air India, and more.

  1. Several Trips to Houston and Boston
I go to Houston and Boston so often that they don’t deserve separate numbers- I’ll be on many A321s and CRJ-900s for these flights

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you have quite an exciting year ahead.

Will those be Delta’s renovated suites or their older ones? To be honest, Delta’s un-renovated business seats are pretty good, but I’d go as far to say that our economy experience on Qantas’ A380 wasn’t much worse (if at all worse), especially in terms of in-flight entertainment and overall service, while of course being much cheaper than Delta One. Wish our US airlines could learn a thing or two from their foreign competitors…

Yeah, luckily, they are the full suites that have closing doors. I believe all of the 777-200LRs are getting retrofitted with them.

Jealous.

Oh, you’re flying Air India? Don’t. It’s not worth it.

I am flying just a couple of domestic Air India flights. I try to avoid them- I prefer Vistara, but some routes they’re the best/only option in terms of timing and pricing

Yeah, our flight was on a 767, so no sliding doors for us :(

Enjoy your trips!
