Iâd also like to point out in the event of a crosswind, one side will always be yellow and one will always be red. In my experience they can often be backwards from the direction the wind actually favours. Likelihood is the controller was reading the METAR instead of going off of colours. Next time Iâd recommend taking a look at the METAR (and learning how to read one if you donât know how) to get the best idea of which runway is actually favourable. The colours help most of the time but theyâre not foolproof. If winds are low (less than 10kts) then direction doesnât make a huge difference for most airliners anyway, so in that situation the controller may just use the direction that fits traffic flow the best.
So Ground told you to taxi to runway 13L, cross a runway then Tower sent you an on guard on the taxiway (I assume when you were about to enter 13L with people landing and taking off on 31R).
