I wanted to share this post to talk about ATC in training server.
I think a lot of users don’t make the difference between Casual and Training server. Lately I feel like I’m controlling a kindergarten not air traffic on training server.
It is unfortunate that an app designed for real avgeeks started landing on the hands of few users who knows nothing about aviation and play like they’re playing with a race car.
I suggest that controllers on Training server should have the ability to report users as well, a training server should be a training server, not an extension of the casual server.
I’m sorry if my words are a bit angry I just completed an ATC session and it gave me headache because of users behaviour
Well, Training Server is quite infamous for pilots who completely disregard/don’t understand ATC instructions. But do bear in mind that 90% of these “race car drivers” eventually make their way into the Expert Server and get actual punishment for disregarding ATC instructions. Thinking this might make you feel better:)
I see why you’re angry. While training server pilots are really bad a flying, training server controllers can be the same way usually giving bad instructions. So some controllers may give random violations for no reason and it could take away from the experience. And as others have said once they get to the expert server they will learn their lesson the hard way. If you want to be a controller without bad pilots I would recommend joining the IFATC team.
I think he meant if issuing violations were given to training server ATC controllers it would be bad as some would start issuing unreasonable reports, I agree with him on this matter
True !
I get that some try to reach the minimum number of landings required to reach grade 3, if only they use smaller airports instead of impairing air traffic on busy airports such as LHR for example lol
I don’t fly in the training server at all (maybe rarely), mostly expert. But we know that it’s a training server for a reason, so pilots and ATC’s can train and improve their skills. If they don’t, and become “race car drivers” then they should be reportable but get approval from higher ups to approve the report. Maybe the ban would last for 1-2 days before they can rejoin the training server.
Just to add. The training server ATC is not given full ATC features (i.e ATIS and multiple frequencies such as multiple ground, approach etc.) I wish ATIS was available so that pilots would at least have a clue of what controllers are using for runway operations, instead of just the colors for references. But that will never happen.
giving that power to report to atc at training servers might not be the best idea, since anyone can join as atc.
so imagine someone, who doesn’t know much about aviation, just casually trying to control busy airports.
what I’d suggest, would be that atc in training servers could at the very least be able to say “please follow instructions”. I still believe reporting/banning would be too much for training servers.
I feel like I experienced this way too many times on TS where there are players on the server that just act like they don’t care and in some cases, I was an ATC in the training server too. A classic example is heathrow because I remember seeing two planes coming head-on at each other with one taking off and the other landing at heathrow and they actually struck each other in the wings. Then again, there’s ryanair at heathrow…
I understand that the Training Server is a learning environment for pilots and controllers. However, allowing ATC to report pilots might not be the best solution right now. In my experience, new controllers often give incorrect or unclear instructions. Giving them the power to report could lead to misuse.
I’ve spent a lot of time controlling on the Training Server, including at busy airports. One common issue I’ve seen is that many pilots simply don’t understand certain ATC instructions, especially those about pattern work, sequencing, and traffic direction. It’s usually not intentional disobedience but a lack of understanding, which is expected in a learning environment.
That said, some pilots do ignore instructions on purpose and disrupt the experience. I’ve noticed even higher-grade pilots (Grade 4-5) spam frequency requests or taxi without clearance, knowing they cannot be reported.
I agree with the idea that controllers should at least have the option to use the “Please follow ATC instructions” command to remind pilots. Additionally, I think Infinite Flight could improve the learning experience by adding Training Server-specific loading screens. These could show tips about pattern work, sequencing basics, or other ATC guidance, helping new pilots get familiar with proper procedures.
i was also controlling EGLL Ground & Tower Today and have the same feeling as @Aviatoranas
and want to add 2 more points what people are doing nowadays they taxi to runway with big jumbo jets and hold shot of runway not asking for take of clearance if ATC clears them on their own no response from them for like 10 mins people are waiting in line for takeoff 2 to 3 pilots have done this and the aircrafts behind them request departure and they are stuck because of people like this, secondly one guy land on runway i’ve given him exit runway when able instruction he was literally parked on runway same situation people are holding short & 2 aircrafts had to go around at least controller should have ability to give at least level 1 violation who are not following the instruction to maintain professionalism to
