You could also try offloading the app and reinstalling it.
That way you don’t loose anything.
On your device go to Settings → General → iPad Storage → select Infinite Flight and tap “Offload App”.
After that tap “Reinstall”.
Let us know if that changes anything.
I restart before every flight and have already tried offloading the app.
I would likewise assume it’s a device issue but I can use the iPad all day for other tasks with no problems; however, when using Infinite Flight for a while, it begins to occur. I don’t think I’ve experienced it during the beginning of a flight either - it seems to start later. Maybe when entering busy airspace?
I do notice the device becoming warm when at a busy airport, but it seems to be a non-issue; I experience no lag. I also haven’t always experienced this problem with the touchscreen - I want to say it began after the A380 update.
And your screen protector doesn’t cause any issue with other applications? Any other application causing any touch screen issue at all, however minor?
And you don’t notice any difference between sensitivity to the problem based on screen touch location? For example, more edge related vs closer to the center etc.?
And no, I can be at university all day using Goodnotes (which itself is a demanding application) and I’ll experience no issues whatsoever.
Recently used the same iPad nonstop for about 8h of a real life flight and had no issues with it being on for a long time. It’s only when IF is in use do I experience the touchscreen issues.
Ok, thank you for your replies. I’m out of ideas at the moment. Maybe the support team can come up with something additional. I’ll see if anything comes to my mind after thinking about it a bit more…I hope your problem gets resolved.
…but I’m now less inclined to believe it is a screen-touch hardware issue.
I did find some search past reference to goodnotes and touch screen problems. But I don’t have enough knowledge to determine how relevant that may or may not be.
This makes it seem like it’s a device issue, but I have no idea why this would only be happening with IF. I can’t imagine only the touch part “freezing”.
I’ve never experienced this with any device and, as far as I know, there haven’t been any similar reports.
It’s now affecting every flight. I’ve tried cleaning the screen, restarting the device, offloading IF, deleting IF… the issue persists.
It seems to have something to do with entering 3D airports/runways and/or busy airspace; in my last two flights, I’ve experienced it when on final approach to a busy OMDB and when entering the runway and taking off from a busy KIAH.
I also thought this but all my takeoffs and landings are performed with my iPad unplugged. Maybe it’s the opposite and rather it’s something to do with the device no longer being charging? I’m not sure.
I want to say it’s related to busy airports with a high volume of multiplayer traffic. I just landed into Istanbul with 2 other aircraft on the ground and experienced no issues. But landing or taking off from busy airports seems to cause the issue.
I think from what I’ve tested, for me, it seems to happen when the device is hot and I’m in a busy airspace or airport. Cause it just happened unplugged too.
Can’t really figure out anything else just that it mostly affects medium-long haul flights.
