I’ve noticed lately that when people create topics, the first thing that members of the community do are tell the creator that they are wrong because the put it in the wrong topic. This isn’t right for many reasons, for one, why don’t you just change it silently or PM the creator to help him. Also, I have encountered this problem on many of my topics and it does make some people fell bad. While it could be a learning experience, many people could tell the creator privately, instead of making a big deal about it. So please, when someone creates a new topic, don’t criticize then immediately, read the topic and enjoy it, then privately message the creator to change it or change it yourself, it would make many people feel better.

If I change it quietly then they will continue to make a mistake, does your teacher tell you when you get answers wrong. Yes Or No, there is your answer!
Please tell me the names of anybody that gets offended by a polite ‘This belongs in xxx category.’
That is not the point, I mean that many members spend time correcting rather than enjoying.
I reiterate my point.
TBH it’s up to the individual person what they get from the thread, if they are being deliberately rude, offensive etc then fair enough, but many people here like it to be organised and want people to learn.
Exactly to the point!
There was a issue when there were around five people saying the same thing when topics were duplicated but that’s stopped now as mods and me personally find it annoying so I usually tell people that there only needs to be one post, you shouldn’t be offended or feel bad as you can do the same to any one else that gets it wrong it’s just how you learn things on the forum. When I joined I’m sure I did a lot of things wrong and without all the corrections I would still be doing the same thing
so true, pilot master good call, love this idea!!!
If you are a member just leave it to a regular or mod to change it.
For regulars: DO NOT TELL THEM IN THE THREAD
Do not correct people in the thread and cause off topic chatter. Take things like this to PM if you find someone doing this and it bothers you. Include a mod in the PM if you want.
I sometimes correct the title without saying anything and its not recommended that you discuss any changes made to a topic in the comments. Look at the Welcome to the Lounge post for all of you regulars, it says it there.
For regulars, check to lounge welcome topic. It says not to say anything. If you’re a member, PM them and ask them to change it or leave it to a regular. If you’re a regular and feel it’s nessecary to tell why you have edited the category or title PM them on mobile, and on PC there’s an option to leave a reason for your edit.
i agree with this just one thing let me get this straight you got triggered on the internet wow never thought that would have happened
Dale Carnegie’s #1 rule: Don’t criticise, condemn or complain
Don’t know if anyone else has read that here, but just putting it out there:)
He’s also the guy that wrote that book about influencing people that every manager reads in every large corporation. The book that influences managers and bosses to do things that cause employee hatred and demoralisation. But, I digress…
Have you read the book? I don’t know where you got that idea…
Not directly causes it, but it’s required reading for management in many corporations. Yet, everyone still seems to hate their boss.
Right, I see where you may have gotten that idea from. The techniques in the book aren’t easy, and I’m sure most bosses don’t take the required reading seriously.
