Too close for comfort?

Edit: cleared up by ATC. This is normal procedure. Thanks!!

I was cleared to land when another aircraft unexpectedly came very close to me. ATC never said anything so I continued course and it was fine.

The aircraft in front of me was lined up on the wrong runway for quiet some time. They should have been on 28L but were on 28R. Leaving me with a lot of confusion.

Is this normal?

Hi!
I was the controller, Alaska was cleared 28L and took a bit longer to intercept the localizer, you were cleared 28R, nothing unusual here.
cheers! :)

Perfect! :) thank you.

This was more learning for me and not calling you out. I just got nervous!

Expect that, some pilots intercept the localiser better than others.

Your landing lights should have been on under 10,000FT!

Parallel approaches are fairly routine as it helps speed up landing traffic. Like @Chatta290 said some pilots find it a bit difficult to intercept the localiser but if you two are cleared for parralel runways this is quite common. Also remember to get those landing lights on.
