Coming back onto the server, nearing the end of the atlantic crossing, On my way To JFK and quietly to my left appeared this virgin a339, maybe one day we could have tcas alerts in the sim
Happend to me too, we really need tcas
we may not have TCAS but we do have a huge map and airplane identification up to 50 NM away, enough to plan traffic avoidance
damn it may be the same dude
Happened to me during landing, even during with staffed ATC online
Wooo! Close!
But N1 114% and landing lights in 38k ft? ![]()
I forgot to turn those off when I took off…
but it’s a sim, nothing taken seriously (I hope anyway) and also I’m facing a headwind and trying to overtake the plane so I can get back on my flight plane as we overlap our flight plans
Yeah, no big deal, jus’ kidding.
When I left my passengers seated with seatbelts on, on a 10 hour flight to Hongkong, that was much worse- I felt so sorry for them ![]()
Your poor passengers… obeying your command but not knowing why the sign is still on.
Just happened to me right now:
I am en route from KFJK to EDDF and this guy filed an FP with Oceanic Track Y from East to West, although R to Z are West to East and he should be on A to D.
By accident I came back into my cockpit and see this guy exactly on my flight level, so I was able to go up a 500ft to avoid a tremendous fatal crash of two aircraft midair with hundreds of innocent casualties.
I took the picture too late and could only get him from behind and the replay doesn’t work on this short AP+ on and off. Were we lucky to spot him just before impact… ![]()
(edit) @Shinkansen_Rail_Line
Nice save. And also lots of pilots are taking the eastbound oceanic tracks as they fly to JFK.
This happens a lot more than we’re even aware because most of us just take off and leave our devices in cruise.
The NAT Tracks are coded wrong anyways so unless you’re loading a flight plan from SimBrief, the tracks depicted on IF is inaccurate
To make it simple, on a scale of 0-100. How accurate would you rate the oceanic tracks?
Out of 100 id say the ocean tracks are 98% accurate apart from they do change accordingly to the winds
For the past couple weeks, they’ve never been accurate based on the NOTAM IRL which I’ll link below. At least not in real time.
That’s what I did- I saw it coming and changed altitude
Yeah i scrolled down after and saw i just forgot to delete my comment ![]()
