Departure Airport: Minneapolis/Saint Paul International Airport (MSP/KMSP)
Arrival Airport: Dublin International Airport (DUB/EIDW)
Airline: Aer Lingus
Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
Flight Time: 7 hours, 14 minutes
Server: Expert

Background: Before 2020, for many years, Aer Lingus operated a daily flight with their 757 from their Dublin base to Minneapolis/Saint Paul. This was supplemented by another 757 on the same route, operated by Delta. There are a lot of people from Ireland or of Irish decent in the Midwest, so this route was operated twice daily year round.

Then a little thing called SARS-CoV-2 (AKA COVID, AKA “The Pandemic” AKA “the virus”) came around and royally screwed up air travel.

For the first time since March of 2020, on April 29th, 2024, Aer Lingus is operating a daily A330 flight to the Twin Cities. A few weeks later, Delta will resume service with their 767-300ERs. Eventually, Aer Lingus will switch to a double daily A321LR flight, meaning the route will be operated thrice daily across both carriers.

Turning onto the runway at around 7:30 AM in Minneapolis, ready to take off in the Flying Pencil.

Airborne and leaving Downtown Minneapolis behind us!

Over Wisconsin keeping my eyes peeled for rouge cheese.

🎵 Oh Canada! Oh Canada! 🎵 (sorry I don’t know more of your national anthem.

Last bit of land we’ll see for a good while. Next stop: Ireland

Ireland alert 🚨 🇮🇪

What else does Ireland have to offer besides fields?

In keeping with Irish tradition, a very rough landing with heavy winds.

As we were on our rollout, we passed a couple of Ryanair 737s taxiing out for a flight to Edinburgh.

Pulling on to a very lovely stand at Dublin Airport
