Because on expert servers i get a lot of tys and ty good day on my frequency but do not hear the controller saying to any other planes
I think its likely for greeting like randomly.
As it is an « unnecessary » message, other airplanes wonât hear the « thank you »s and « youâre welcome »s you receive. IFATC does it as an appreciation, and it builds the habit of doing it every time. Itâs not an obligation at all, and IFATC appreciates it if you say thank you from time to time aswell :). (Only the plane receiving the « thank you » will hear it.)
Im not sure abt the other planes hearing part as i heard a pilot say âim sorryâ for getting off the runway quite slowly , and the controller said âyouâre welcomeâ as in accepting the apology i supposed? This was in expert server
From what I know, you canât hear the polite messages like Thank You from other planes. This may have changed. But yeah they often use messages like this to speak to the pilot the best way they can as there arenât many available messages like this. A current IFATC controller could comment on this. Been a long time since I left.
I use it sometimes, just to thank a pilot who communicated well or anything like that. Also for when I see a friend, but idk if everyone can hear it, donât think so but since I never asked myself the question, I do not know the answer.
As a IFATC from my perspective, we wonât say thank you during large traffic was occurring in the airport, if you said it to us we mostly will reply you a thank you before freq change, but please please understand that sometimes we are that busy which only have time to give you freq change without thank you âșïž
Speaking from experience, we will only send the âThank you, Good day!â or âYouâre welcome!â when traffic flow allows to, itâs not an obligation and most of us send just to be nice back.
I mostly say it as a friendly goodbye when the airspace isnât too busy
As IFATC, we very much apreciate it if you are very realistic and follow commands :). Itâs why we do this for willingly since we appreciate it :)
I normally say it if I think the controller has done a good job (so most of the time) and if the controller announces they are signing off even if they havenât spoken to be yet Iâll say thank you good day because itâs good manners.
I usually, as a pilot say thank you a lot when no traffic. ATC kindly responding youâre welcome+ Ty gday before frequency change. If airport is crowed, i look whoâs controlling grnd and tower (basically same controller) then say ty before freq change! I try to be nice and say ty, the way the app is offering. I respect these people!
Yes, Tyler forces us to say it. In all seriousness, I usually say it to everyone as long as they arenât plain annoying.
Personally, I use them when I see good flying etiquette and quality airmanship . Or, if someone gives one to me, Iâll return one!
