I am in a few VAs. Just follow all the rules and try to fly a good amount with the VA. Most VAs I’ve seen require at least 1 flight per month but id recommend flying more than that. Other than that, just comply with the rules of the VA and enjoy it

Try and join ones that don’t require you writing a test first and they are most likely the smaller VAs

Don’t go for the bigger ones yet.

I’m speaking from experience.

Build up your experience with those before applying for bigger VAs

Be bold and join the one that most reflects your favourite airline or alliance in real life. Fly the dream!

I started off at IAGVA years ago and haven’t looked back!

I’ve been unaffiliated for a good four years now, and I can say that you shouldn’t do it unless you’re willing to take on the stress and fly routes you might not want to fly.

But if you do, try to join one of the big name VA’s as they have much better structure and are likely more than willing to take you under their wing.

Much one did you choose?

I applied for Delta Virtual 3 days ago, it’s my first VA, I had to complete a test, which I succeeded. So I don’t think it’s bad to begin with a not too small VA if you know what you’re doing
Anyway, I’m still waiting to be contacted

You don’t have to do much—just follow the rules of your virtual airline group, make progress, and try to join an airline group that you like, so that you’ll stay interested in flying.

I’m in IAG VA, and honestly here are tips I’ve gained before I applied, and it applies (some of them) when you actually go through the process and once you’ve joined.

1.) InfiniteFlight Stats, this one is not a big deal, just ensure you’ve built decent stats or at least have more than the minimum they require you to have.

2.) Time, the only way you can enjoy your “career” in a virtual airline is ensuring you are able to put time aside to do flights, as when you rank up in these virtual airlines, it makes you want to do it again. So just ensure you will have time to set aside for the Virtual Airline.

3.) Knowledge, this here you mainly apply for the initial test you fill out for joining the Virtual Airline, for this you need to know basic stuff like patterns, and all the basics when flying in InfiniteFlight, I’d recommend checking out the Manuals InfiniteFlight offers to refresh your memory, before completing the tests, that are to see your understanding of your knowledge

4.) Find the right Airline, one thing to look for is the airline you know you for sure want to put your time into, and build a relationship with everyone in the Airline. Make sure you look through all the Virtual Airlines there are, and choose the one that you know you will enjoy the most.

These are not really all the things I would suggest only to you, these are just key tips that I used as well before I joined my Virtual Airline. Hope this helps, all the best with your journey!

Please refer to the IFVARB VA Database for more information, each VA is unique in its own way. I would recommend visiting their website or IFC Thread for more details, so you know which one suits you best.

I used to work for them, one of the best options. Very nice people and staff in that VA

Just make sure you’re able to meet the requirements and minimum amount of required PIREP (routes flown) the month.

Also you’re allowed to join multiple VA’s
