I have a favour to ask, I need some people to give me feedback and tips on my recent flight. I was meant to fly into Zurich but had to go around 2 times then got diverted to Stuggart. On all three on my approach when everytime I deactivated APPR I started to drift off from the centre of the runway. Also on my second attempt of landing, once I deactivated APPR I tried to manually steer the RUDDER to head on the wind but then started drifting off as well.
I seem to still struggle with crosswind landings. Please may I have some feedback and tips?
Don’t cross control with the rudder in the air. Let the airplane fly crooked. Just keep the centerline under the belly and don’t worry about where the nose is pointed. Also once you disengage, don’t change the way the aircraft is flying, the a/p was doing a perfect job of flying the airplane so just keep it steady
Thank you, so once I disengage I don’t manually steer the rudder. I just leave it but then steer rudder before touchdown. Also when I disengage it just seems like I keep on going off the centre even while keeping my device still.
When it comes to flying with crosswinds you want to use the HUD. Use the Flight Oath Vector (circle thingy) as that shows where the plane is heads opposed to where it’s pointing. Use that to line up with the runway, and you should stay centered.
