More than half the time, there is no sound in the app after Resuming a flight - no engine sound, no pilot voice, etc., nothing. Quitting and restarting the app does not solve the problem. The only way to restore sound is to quit and restart the ipad. I’m using ipad pro, 11 inch, ipad os version 18.3.2. I’ve read the suggestions in an earlier bug report, but no suggestions work except restarting the ipad.
Does triggering Siri help?
That usually helps bringing the sound back.
If your ringer is muted, that could be the problem. Try turning it on if it’s off!
Unfortunately, no.
Restart your phone
Thanks, but the ringer is not muted.
Not sure how this relates to my ipad.
Jan, all the suggestions I have seen don’t work. There is clearly a bug in the program. Not a problem. All programs have bugs that need to be fixed. All I really want to know is whether the IF developers acknowledge this is a bug in the program, and plan to fix it in the next update.
So far two audio issues have been identified regarding different iPad models.
On the standard iPad it’s an audio rattle on certain generation models.
On iPads with an M1 chip (Air & Pro) there is sometimes no sound at all.
Both these issues are solved by triggering Siri.
I haven’t encountered an issue that wasn’t solved by triggering Siri.
In order to investigate an issue, we need to be able to reproduce it.
Anything specific we can try?
You are using a 3rd gen iPad Pro 11 with an M1 chip, right?
Triggering Siri should help.
In my ipad’s Settings > About, I see Model Name: iPad pro (11 inch) (3rd generation). Apple web site says this model has a M1 chip.
The only clue I can offer is that the sound only disappears when I click Resume > Main Menu > Confirm, then do whatever I do, and then click Fly > Start to resume the program. Then silence. Not all the time, but enough times to be a real pain. Something in the “Resume” sequence is what appears to turn the sound off.
Do you have another device?
Does it also happen on your phone?
I have an iPhone, but don’t have IF installed on it.
I can imagine it being a pain.
Just to be sure, you tried triggering Siri when in the app without audio, like in the video I shared?
I have two M1 iPad models. Not the exact same one as you’re using though.
If we can’t reproduce the exact same issue, it’s impossible to investigate it.
Please make a screen recording showing the issue.
Please also trigger Siri in the recording and show Control Center.
Siri does not respond when IF loses sound. Whatever IF bug is causing the loss of sound is also blocking Siri from being activated. With IF closed, Siri responds normally.
Follow-up: The IF sound bug is not isolated with the Resume sequence. The app is now silent immediately when the app opens, and really can’t be used now.
From your device - can you swipe down from the top right to bring out Control Center and grab a screenshot of what you’re seeing?
Yes. Restarted IF, and the sound came on, as it does sometimes, so the swipe down works. Swipe down doesn’t word with IF sound off.
Im having this issue too, I have everything at full volume in the app settings and it still doesn’t work. ATC, engines, flaps, nothing has sound. It’s so weird. This might be an actual game problem..
In 99,9% of the cases when people say that. It’s their device being silent. Especially on iOS, so make sure to check that first. Red highlighted bell icon in Control Center on iPads and the mute switch on the top left on iPhones.
What the OP is experiencing is however something very different that’s new.
