I just know that every member here has wondered why I haven’t created a spotting topic since early April. Thankfully I have come to fix that with a collection of photos since my last topic that I’m sure the community will love.
I only got a 3 week summer break.
Jumping ahead to June, we got into prime thunderstorm season with almost every day receiving weather. This day we got a lot more development that usual leading to some towering cumulonimbus for Nevada One’s arrival.
Still in June, can’t go bad with golden hour special arrivals. Phoenix still does it better unfortunately.
July brings the 4th of July, and this was my poor attempt of trying to long exposure fireworks.
We also got this really neat Global 7500 to Germany prior to dark as well.
Later in July we got a neat 737-500 from Tucson. Not sure who was on it but it departed later to the military base in El Paso.
Moving to August, I finally finished my summer classes and got rewarding with the shortest summer break known to man. So of course I’m gonna make a few day trips. San Diego’s new T1 parking garage is good for departures.
Actually from a separate trip to San Diego, I decided to go for arrivals. Since the approach to runway 27 is visual, it’s fun to see every arrival and compare it with this building. Some are a lot higher than others.
Like this 787 for example.
My first spotting trip to PHX in months was the result of an Air France pilot asking me to catch their arrival into Phoenix! He and his wife were both part of the crew of this flight and it had also happened to be his wife’s birthday!
Closing it off with something I took today actually. My first time grabbing a 727, and it came in some neat golden hour light which was a huge bonus!
