After thats few years of plane crashes, Malaysian Airlines hasn’t had an easy time. It may be inappropriate to use callsigns like MH370 but its not a reason to report uses for using the MH callsign itself.
If you don’t understand, and you believe its inappropriate to “just” use the MH callsign tell me in the comments, its a working callsign used in this present day and shouldn’t be reported unless using an inappropriate number to follow.
Why I say this? About 2-3 days ago a friend and I were using the Singapore to Kuala Lumpur region to fly in, we had active ATC and quite a good amount of traffic. We both used the MH callsign like this:
MH7003
MH676
He was first into the region waiting for me at the gate, doing nothing at all just idling at the park. He suddenly received a red message saying he had been reported by other members. I soon connected to the game, finding him vanished at his designated gate (as reported works), About 5 minutes later, after pushback I suddenly was reported the same way.
I had done nothing of the sort to show inappropriate behaviour, all I had done was pushback, with permission. I believe its the callsign.
If this is the case vote below. Do you find it okay to use the MH callsign. (No numbers)
Personally I think it depends on the scenario. Some people use callsigns of aircraft that have crashed to show respect while others may abuse the callsign. Some players may also use a callsign and not realise that it is related to a crash, so I personally would not ghost a player for this alone.
It is perfectly fine to use the MH call signs in my opinion. You should not be ghosted using any MH callsign as the controller should realize that you have good intentions. I don’t know why you got reported :(
No your point makes sense, callsigns like that shouldn’t be used, at least not intentionally. As Cj said before, if its for respect they may be okay, but reporting them just for the callsign (like MH) is like arresting the person who reported a murder.
I agree that MH17 and MH370 callsigns shouldn’t be used, even for “showing respect” ( not sure HOW that shows respect!) but as we have MH aircraft we should be using MH call signs which don’t intentionally mimic one of the fatal flights.
I would go as far to say that it shows MORE respect if correct Callsigns are used depending on the livery of the aircraft ( ie SPEEDBIRD fot BA aircraft) rather than using either a random GA or made up Callsign.
I agree, a certain level of sensitivity should be exercised when flying with those callsigns. That is common sense. But to be ghosted for simply having the “MH” in your callsign? That’s political correctness gone mad. We don’t do that with any other airlines that have been involved in major incidents in the past, so why do it with Malaysia Airlines. That’s my 20 cents worth anyway
its not illegal, its just inappropriate and not really being serious and its not a game. Honestly i don’t report anyone who does that but if an airline usually discontinues the number i would too.
