If you’re a veteran IF player, you’ll know that Mexico City Airport (MMMX) was one of the first airports released when 3D airports were introduced to our beloved sim. Since 2022, we haven’t had a proper rework of this great and important airport.
But worry not, because the great @rowan and I @Lalo_Castaneda, have taken on the task of bringing it up to the highest standards of scenery editing quality (or at least that’s the goal lol).
To give you a reference of how the project is progressing, this is what the airport currently looks like when you come here to fly:
Crooked taxiways, generic facades, plain white stands, outdated buildings and taxiways, containers on the rooftops are just some of the issues we are to fix…
We’ll be constantly posting updates and WIPs of the airport so you can also be part of this transformation.
Hi everyone! It’s been quite a journey taking this behemoth on. It’ll be one for the ages.
Y’all may have seen my update in the Project Mexico thread. I was responsible for reworking MMMX’s 2D (lines, pavements, etc), which I’ve finished (mostly) at this point. Here are some before and after pics for your enjoyment:
Note
Reminder that the material shown in these pictures are subject to change before release. These will likely not be the final product.
Up next is the full rework of MMMX’s 3D buildings: Lalo is currently working on Terminal 2, It’s coming along great (as you can see in picture 3), but I’ll leave that progress for him to share.
Hola amigos!!!
As rowan previously showed, there has been some progress for Terminal 2.
Here are some pics of the initial work plus the new terminal finger:
Today, I’ll show you the progress made on Terminal 1…
Now that T1 is virtually complete, most of the remaining 3D work consists of hangars and office buildings, meaning progress is going to speed up significantly.
Note
This is a WIP and likely will not be the final product
All airport models such as A/C units, solar panels, cars, etc, are missing in the reworked version. They will come once the airport is near completion.
