The marvelous Maldives (FINAL FLIGHT)

Hello everybody from a late night here in Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪 I arrived here earlier in the afternoon from Male, Maldives 🇲🇻🏝️ and during my shorter layover, I went to check out the last few places I had left to explore here and also bought some souvenirs to bring home but now it is 10:45PM and im now on my way to the airport to catch the 2nd flight of the way back home to Miami 🏝️😎 this will not only be the longest flight of this trip but also the longest flight I’ve done so far at 15 hours and a half onboard, will I get bored? Will I get uncomfortable? Well wait to find out. But honestly, that wasn’t my main concern about my journey back home. The problem is the weather in Miami 🏝️😎 right now. I got hundreds of videos and photos about the streets FLOODED, and pretty much every single flight out of MIA was either severely delayed or straight up cancelled. Things up in Fort Lauderdale 🏝️🛥️ weren’t any better as streets were still flooded not as severely but still bad and once again, FLL had lots of its flights severely delayed or cancelled and even part of I-95 around Oakland Park was shut down completely, cars were stranded and people were going to the store and other places in Kayaks as well. Luckily the storm is calming down and the DXB → MIA flights haven’t seen much interruptions from the weather and so far we are looking good so now onto the airport itself, Emirates uses terminal 3 as its home here and like pretty much the entire city, this is one beautiful terminal. This gives Dubai an already good introduction since the airport is the first place you’ll be in upon arrival. EKs check in area like I said is actually BELOW the taxi way so who knows what could be taxiing above us right now. Security did take some time due to the
many departures around this time but still was shorter than any major US hub without pre check. I went to get some snacks in this duty free shop before reaching our gate due to the boarding area being a bit unique.

FLIGHT INFO

Origin: Dubai International 🇦🇪 (OMDB)
Destination: Miami Intl 🇺🇸 (KMIA)
Flight Time: 15:12
Boeing 777-300ER (Emirates)
Server: Expert

Like my gate from my flight to the Maldives 🇲🇻🏝️ from last week, this one has a small enclosed area with a ticket gate so you can only enter the waiting area once you scan your boarding pass and once your in there is no exit. Luckily there are restrooms here so if the wait is quite long, you can still use the bathroom. Taking us to the 305 🏝️😎 tonight or this morning will be A6-EGB a 13 year old Boeing 777-300ER delivered to Emirates on Cinco de Mayo of 2011 🇲🇽🎉🎩 this will be the oldest aircraft of the journey. Just before boarding we had a go through a second security check along with pretty much all of EKs US 🇺🇸 bound flights but it was pretty much harmless so let’s board!

You’ve seen this cabin 4 stars time now so here’s a short summary of it, 6 “game changer” first class suites in a 1-1-1 setup, 42 “game changer” business seats in a 2-3-2 configuration and 306 economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration making up a total of 354 seats on the plane. My seat will be in the 1st full section of economy class, 33A to be exact and waiting for me is a pillow, blanket and water bottle which is absolutely VITAL for such a long flight. The seat like I’ve said many times is comfortable and was even comfortable enough for the 13 and a half hour journey into Dubai from MIA but how will it handle the return? Boarding was completed pretty quickly and soon we made our way to DXBs runway 12R for take off.

Our take off roll as expected was pretty light due to the weight of our aircraft, it was a full MINUTE between our engines spooling up and being airborne but now we say our final goodbyes to Dubai, it was kind of sad leaving this gorgeous city behind since I won’t be here’s anytime soon due to it being extremely far from where I live but also the fact that flights here can cost a lot but in happy to say I’ve visited it.

After a pretty dark climb out of DXB, we reached our initial cruising altitude of FL280 and now that I think of it, that long rotation was just a reminder that we had a long, long, long journey back home. But anyways the crew began preparing Dinner which I had a nice Spaghetti 🍝 with olive oil, garlic bread, cheese and crackers, chocolate cake for dessert, water bottle and choice of beverage which I went with Coke. This actually tasted really good like I pretty much expected, the Spaghetti was similar to the one I had on the MSC Seascape around a year ago and these crews also were extremely social and happy about their jobs. Some sad about the state of Miami 🏝️😎 so they won’t really get the best experience in their layover there but it’s fine I guess. 5 stars here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I saw Titanic once again on the IFE like my previous flight so I decided to give it a watch and it was pretty nostalgic, as soon as that was over,

I fell asleep.

I got a really good sleep only being woken up by breakfast as we crossed the coast of Ireland 🇮🇪 meaning we will now be over the Atlantic Ocean for the next few hours, I was served a nice French toast with a vanilla yogurt, crackers with cheese and more bread and butter and the traditional water bottle and beverage choice which I went with apple juice 🧃 and once again this was another solid meal service but since there isn’t much to see outside now, I guess it’s back to the IFE this time with Home Alone and it was quite strange watching this during the summer but it’s whatever really.

I decided to take a short nap after the movie and I woke up over US 🇺🇸 Canada 🇨🇦 border flying above the state of Maine and below is the northern start/terminus of I-95. The main interstate highway along the east coast of the country connecting every single major city on this side with each other but sadly, that’s all of views for the most part since New York City 🗽🍎 Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and every other major north eastern city will be on the RIGHT side of the plane while im seated on the LEFT so that’s a major loss for me.

Right by Myrtle Beach, SC our final “meal” was served which was just a bread type thing with cheese inside along with choice of beverage which I chose yet again another coke, I watched iCarly for the final hour before descent and soon enough I finally heard,

“Ladies and gentleman, we have now begun our descent into the Miami area we are currently right by Vero Beach or Fort Pierce and we will be landing in about 20 minutes”

And I finally got lucky with the views again since as a left side passenger, I got a view over the coast of most of Palm Beach County including a view of Peanut Island 🏝️🥜 Downtown West Palm Beach 🏝️🏌️ PBI airport, Donald Trump’s Maralago estate and pretty much the entire coastline of Lantana, Hypoluxu and Boynton Beach before turning back over the Atlantic by Boca Raton.

All I saw was water as we flew by the coast of Broward County passing by every major coastal city and even right by FLL, EK used to serve it but left in 2020 because of the pandemic and never returned and soon enough they returned to South Florida but now using MIA instead and speaking of MIA, since it was reverse ops, the left side view like always didn’t disappoint me and it was great to see downtown Miami 🏝️😎 again along with Miami Beach, Port Miami, The Venetian and MacArthur Causeways and we even flew by I-95 once again right by southern start/terminus so this flight really was just a flight along I-95 but now it’s time to enjoy this approach into MIAs RWY 26L!

And after a smooth touchdown, welcome back to Miami! 🏝️😎 it feels great to be home and especially get this trip done since I’ve been hyping it up for a long time. But now how did the flight go? Well it went great even after 15 hours of sitting here it wasn’t bad at all the legroom was good and the cushioning so it’s pretty comfortable, the meals were also fantastic along with the crews and IFE and I can for sure tell you this 15 hour flight was more comfortable than an 8 hour flight on American Airlines, United Airlines and maybe even Delta Airlines and that’s coming from a frequent AA flyer so after being on 4 Emirates flights straight I can determine that EK truly does deserve the praise it gets! 🙌

After taxiing to the other side of the airport, we had parked in MIAs south terminal, concourse J which yes is a major downgrade to where I just was but I still find it beautiful especially compared to the central terminal, that place needs a major upgrade luckily one is coming up. I took this last view of our aircraft as soon she will be heading down to Bogotá, Colombia 🇨🇴 one of Emirates newest destinations and due to the long distance between DXB and BOG, EK decided to use MIA as the stopping point due the aircraft pretty much sitting here for most of the day and wanted to give it a use but also this route is extremely profitable and competitive, American, Avianca, LATAM, and now Emirates operate this route and for a bonus, Spirit Airlines flies to BOG from Fort Lauderdale 🏝️🛥️ as well and as for the arrivals process, Passport control 🛂 wasn’t too long since only an Avianca flight from BOG was with us and we arrived first anyways. Bags also came out pretty quickly and I was soon on my way to the parking garage to see if my car hasn’t been submerged yet since I parked it only on a tiny slope still on the first floor but luckily it still works so I got in and started the drive back home to BB. Anyways that is it regarding my flight from Dubai, UAE 🇦🇪 to Miami 🏝️😎 and my trip to the Maldives 🇲🇻🏝️ stay tuned for later as I return to Brazil 🇧🇷 on Wednesday and as always between now and the next time, see you in the sky! 😉👋

What a great flight u had from Dubai to Miami. What about that Dubai airport where you said about EK’s checkin area which is located below the taxiway. Is it actually located below the taxiway?

Simply Aviation said it is

Really, Simply Aviation said that. You watched Simply Aviation on YouTube and said that the EK’s checkin area is below the taxiway?

Yeah he says it in this video

At the 2:02 mark

So you made that up based on that video from Simply Aviation? I’d never knew that the Emirates checkin area is below the taxiway. And aircrafts can taxi all the way around the terminal making it more reliable as I saw in the video.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it is coming from a guy who has flown with Emirates for a while. Sometimes you can hear the GE-90s start up if there is an EK B777 above you if you are waiting in the check in area. The main terminal building you see in DXB is only where the duty free area and gates are, the check in and security is underground. Nice trip report @NonStopsAviation, I suggest you could fly to Europe if you can for a trip report. I’m really enjoying these.

@AviatorVJ, we’ll that’s pretty interesting because most airports don’t have checkin areas underneath the taxiway. There are within the same level where the security checkpoints and gates are. Especially St. Louis airport, the check in area is above the baggage claim, the security checkpoint and the gates. And in Miami airport, the baggage claim is below the check-in area, security and the gates

Also the check in area underneath the taxiway in DXB is only for EK. It’s pretty cool and looks so nice inside. Also in a way it’s a genius idea as they had more space to spread things out and make it spacious. If you are flying with another airline into DXB there is just a normal building at the side of the airport where you check in just like in any other airport.

I’m planning a Fiji trip for next month

Are you gonna go via LAX using the Fiji livery? (If we have one).

Probably or maybe SFO ( we have it on the A350 )

I suggest LAX as you can fly with AA as well because Fiji Airways and AA are both part of OneWorld and LAX is a hub for AA (I think) so it’ll add to the realism.
