2019 Alaska Fly in Season always starts off with the Great Aviation Gathering in Anchorage, Ak. This is the first big aviation event in Alaska. This year tons of different companies (including us) were there to recruit pilots, everyone from several helicopter companies to Alaska Airlines. Robinson and Bell Helicopters also joined this year to compete, Robbie selling the R44/R66 models vs Bell selling the 505. The Pateys, famously known for Draco, flew from Utah all the way up to Alaska for the first time to show off their highly modified Wilga 2000. Rotak Alaska finally showed off one of their four 11 Million Dollar Kman K-Max Helicopters. The US Army flew up their newest toy to join their local Guard unit, the UH-72 Lukla, while Timberline also showed off their Private UH-60A Blackhawk helicopter that’s on contract this year. Inside Baron brought a brand new Beech 58 to show off while Cessna sat next to it with a brand new Cessna 172 with a G1000 and a Ryan Air C208, they also had a C208 with a Garret conversion engine on it. Maule had their 2018 model Maule (Used by God’s country aviation in Ak). Carbon Cub flew in a new carbon cub from Washington on Amphibs floats which was parked next to an Ak State Trooper Super Cub. Alpine Air had their beautiful Blue R-44 Raven II which was next to a home build Zenith aircraft!
