The great American desert

I’ve already praised the Pacific Northwest for its insane beauty a while that is still my overall favourite part of the Western US, the Desert :cactus: landscape of the Southwest in states like California, Arizona and Nevada are still beautiful. While the east coast easily wins in cities, the west coast wins the land award :trophy: While not quite on the coast yet, the state of Nevada is pretty much a vast desert except for cities like Las Vegas :star::slot_machine: Carson City and Reno not to mention the mysterious Area 51 located in the desert. :alien:

The Southwest has some absolutely gorgeous scenery.

Not gonna lie, it’s close. It also depends what you include. The East coast has New York, Boston, and Miami, but the West Coast comes in with San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle. If you go a bit inland, you can include Portland, Tucson, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Economically, California is a total powerhouse. It’s by far America’s largest economic generator and is home to arguably the most recognizable American brands (Apple, Google, Disney, and Visa). I’d also make the case that it’s the most recognizable US state and the biggest cultural generator (given that the LA Metro is home to the heart of American media). And that’s only California - Nike, Amazon, Microsoft, and T-Mobile are also all West Coast.

The East Coast obviously has its major economies and cultural contribution, but it’s not quite at the same level of the West.

California is the sole reason as to why the west coast is what it is today

The east coast has New York City which is arguably the most important city in the world. Other major cities include Boston, Providence, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Richmond, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah and Miami not including the more inland cities like Atlanta and Charlotte.

While California generally still has the economic advantage, 5 of the top 10 of the biggest states economically reside on the east coast with New York and Florida combined almost approaching California’s
