The Good Old Days

Hello everyone!

• I have decided to share you some of my best Infinite Flight Screenshots in the last recent years, before Version 17.04.0 Global update came out. These were really beautiful pictures, and I will definitely miss the beautiful scenery of the sky, and most important, the Reflecting Water.

• Here are 9 of my best screenshots during the 2016 season.

#1 - U.S. Airways Airbus A320.

Flying through the Mountains in Palm Springs, the passengers seem to enjoy the sunshine. Route: KPSP - KSAN. (As much as I can remember) 🇺🇸

#2 - Fedex Heavy Ride!

Had a Hop around with the FedEx B777 Freighter with a heavy payload, following others around in an event. Departed San Francisco a in Foggy and Cloudy conditions. Destination Airport was unknown. 📦📦

#3 - The Harp and the British Evening.

Managed to try out a Ryanair route in the UK from Birmingham to Gatwick. It was a busy day, scheduled day on the Expert Server. Made myself a cup of tea too! Enjoyed the sunset. I used to remember the beautiful scenery the UK had comparing to the rest! ☕️

#4 - Cockpit Chills!

Had a fun day testing out new liveries on the Airbus A320. Flew the new Wizz Air from the obvious Route, Palm Springs (KPSP) to San Diego (KSAN). And, the sunset made my day too! 🌄

#5 U.S.C.G. Coast Guard Accomplishing Missions and Patrolling! ⭐️

Since the recent update of the new Lockheed Martin C-130 Military aircrafts, I decided to try and make a few trips and Patrol the Island of San Clemente (KNUC) ! Departed North Island Military Base (KNZY) next to (KSAN).

#6 Fly Schweiz! 🇨🇭🇨🇭

Beautiful shot of the Swiss Airbus A330! Flying the obvious route from Los Angles (KLAX) down to San Clemente (KNUC). Once again, there is Sunset and Another aircraft spotted in the distance to add to the effect!

#7 - San Diego Spotting! @KSAN 🛫

It was a great day to go and take a few shots in San Diego Airport. I have also managed to make a flight to Ontario Internationall (KONT) with the older version of Southwest Boeing 737-800.

#8 The Reflection.

One of my best pictures reflecting the beauty of the sea outside Los Angles. The beautiful water scenery is something we all definately miss today. Here is a Southwest Flight from Los Angles (KLAX) to San Clemente (KNUC). 🌊

#9 The Solo Chill with Alitalia. 🇮🇹

This is something we miss too. Offline mode. I used to be pretty tired after a busy trip crossing Germany in Europe and stopped by a hotel. I sat there and took a few shots while playing Offline in Solo mode. This is taken in the Amsterdam Region.

I hope you enjoyed my only best shots before Global. Any positive comments appreciated. I need to go sleep now. And, we all surely miss the old features Two Years ago.

That being said, this shows that the Infinite Flight Team is working hard all the time. We shall respect all their future steps and just help improve the community a little. ♥️

Not sure what you mean here. The old scenery was a fake repeating texture. The new scenery is the actual real scenery as seen by satellites.

I know this is probably easier said than done but would it be possible to overlay all areas of the earth in global with the the reflective water that IF had before global?

The reflective water would be a graphics option in settings. Users who don’t have the hardware performance for the reflective water can leave this option off: they would see satellite imagery of water as they do today.

For our “global” release, we transitioned from a “flat” terrain, to a full scale spherical planet model. The water rendering system we had before was made for a flat terrain and we haven’t had the time to make a new system that would work on the new spherical model.
We will probably add a better water rendering system in the future but this is not a priority right now (we also have to figure out how to nicely blend between the water color we get from the imagery, which are more accurate in general)

What you explained makes a lot of sense to me and I have a better understanding of how challenging this will be. If only it were as simple as copying & pasting code lol.

Yeah you are definately right. It’s just that during the past days this region was different comparing to the others.

The only things I really miss from the old days are the terrain warning in the map and the map and the map in general.

I really hope that at some point in the future we will get a better and more accurate map again.

Besides that, Global rocks.
