The First Ever Kauai Fly-In @ PHLI - 080900ZFEB20

The Lihue Fly-In

About the Event

Hello Everyone! This is my first event on the IFC and I couldn’t be more excited. For this event we will be flying into PHLI on the beautiful island of Kauai. This island has always had a special place in my heart just as aviation also has. We will combine the two to make the first ever fly-in to this airport. Everyone will start on the West Coast and arrive to meet each other in paradise!

About the Airport

Lihue Airport is a state-owned public-use airport located on the southeast coast of Kauai in Kauai County, Hawaii. The airport does not serve as a hub for any airline carrier. Numerous inter-island flights are available daily as well as flights to and from the West Coast. The airport is not a hub for any particular airline. However, 8 airlines serve 22 destinations from this small airport. Lihue operates two runways, RWY 03-21 and RWY 17-35. The airport is mostly un-walled and open-air, and the check-in is completely outside. The airport is the primary gateway to Kauai for visitors (especially tourists), and has several rental car facilities. Overall, this is a beautiful island airport that does it’s job with no fancy amenities. Just paradise!

Final Remarks

  • The idea of this event is a little different than usual. Instead of flying out, everyone should take off from their West Coast departure cities to all arrive at PHLI roughly around the same time.

  • If you are a VA who would like to sponsor this event, please don’t hesitate to PM me.

  • General Aviation slots are available!

  • PM me if you are interested in providing ATC

  • This is my first event and first event at PHLI ever. Let’s make it a good one!

  • There will be many more to come. Mahalo Nui Loa!

Aloha! Thank you for signing up, I can’t wait to see you there!

Could I get this one please? Excited to do some island hopping!

Of course! I’ll put you down. However, the majority of people will be doing 5 hour flights from the West Coast, so you may miss out on all the operations.

YEEESS WS1874 plzzz

Sounds good! My favorite route to PHLI :)

Could I please take Alaska 819 from San Diego? Also, is it possible for me to change to the 737-900? Thanks!

Also, great job on your first event 😁

Yeah you can. Although AS don’t operate the 739 on that route, they are ETOPS rated.

Oh, okay. I’ll take the 738 then :)

Thanks! I plan events as part of my staff position at ASVA but never have done one by myself. I’m a little new to all the hidden commands.

You can do either. I usually fly the 739 just because it has the new livery but it is up to you.

I just wanted to do it with the new livery. I think I’ll take the -900 actually. We could all just pretend it’s an -800 or something I guess 😂

Of course! I’ll sign you up :)

Thank you 😃

I have flown AS819 many times as KSAN is my home airport. Aloha!

Just to make sure, are we to land in Kauai at the event time or to takeoff at the event time?

Take off from your departure city at 9am PST. Most flights from the West Coast are between 5-6 hours so no matter where you are taking off from, we should all land together in Kauai around the same time.

Awesome, thanks!

If it was the other way around (we all land at 9:00 PST), then I wouldn’t make it at all (that’s taking off at 3:00 AM for me)😅

American 265 A321 Los Angeles (KLAX) If this gate is available, I’d like to use it please?

Can’t wait to see you in paradise. Mahalo!
