With easyJet eyeing a deal to buy Monarch, could this be the end of their reign?
I think it’s inevitable. I only flew with them once, and they were OK. Easy growth potential for Easyjet at their mega hub at Gatwick and they really don’t want Ryanair or Norwegian getting those slots.
As for the 737 MAX8s they ordered, easyjet will not take delivery of them.
More likely they will sell the aircraft or delivery positions to another airline, or a leasing company and be done with it.
Easyjet still have plenty of Airbus options they can exercise if they want to grow the fleet.
Britannia, Airtours, Air 2000, British Midland and now Monarch … not much left of the 90s UK holiday carriers!
