Climbing out in this sleek CL35 over German :germany: farmland, right near the border with Switzerland :switzerland:

The incredible Swiss Alps :switzerland: as we make our way towards 42,000 feet

Crossing the outskirts of Milan :italy:

After a quick water crossing of the Mediterranean, we’re now in Africa, specifically Tunisia :tunisia:. The capital city of Tunis is off to our west.

Welcome to the notorious Libya :libya: - Tunisia :tunisia: border

The Sahara Desert, Niger :niger:

Making our approach into N’Djamena. We’re still in Niger :niger:, but you can see the wetlands stemming from Lake Chad :chad: below

Coming in on final approach for N’Djamena, briefly entering Cameroon :cameroon: before flying back into Chad :chad: over the Chari River which snakes through the capital city

A perfectly smooth touchdown welcomes us to Africa’s fifth-largest nation. Despite being about 3.5 times bigger in area, California has twice as populous. This is owing to the fact that the majority of Chad is extremely barren (but beautiful) desert. About half of its people live in only 10% of its area, mostly around N’Djamena which has better access to water. As a result, Chad is nicknamed the “Dead Heart of Africa,” both due to it’s emptiness and being close to Africa’s geographic center.

We’re spending the night here in N’Djamena before taking a group of Chadian businesspeople to Mumbai :india: for a meeting
