The Boom Is Happening

Bah… No ticket bud because this mustached man is spoiled by standby. non reving is just a thing I know now. the only time a ticket was bought was when we got stuck in Honolulu and the Nigeria to Doha to New York with Qatar. Plus it’s expensive that’s one thing why the Concorde failed …Bah

That’s not why it failed.

Airbus didn’t want to support the aircraft type anymore. This was a contributing factor. Price. People were willing to pay for exclusivity.

I’ve never heard of “The Boom”. What is it? Which is the “London-based airline willing to buy $2 billion worth of jets”? Is it British Airways? Wow, that’s a lot of questions.

Oh well I was wrong then. Bah… but still no way paying for a ticket. Rich can do it. they can buy one for me …bah

The hyper loop has so many flaws with the proposed plans

Wow, nice. That’s really expensive.

I think it was a minor thing why the Concorde failed. I found the wiki link to the Concorde’s ONLY crash. In my opinion, the Concorde was one of the safest plane ever built.

It got trashed because the airlines had 2 choices:

  1. Trash it, or

  2. Make repairs(update cockpit, ect.)

They when with the first one and that is that.

I don’t see why not to try to make another one.

Don’t forget 9/11 air travel self suffered such a massive blow when that happened and with the Concord in such a niche roll, it was bound to fail. Wrong time. Now a days a modern, up to date Concord with today’s technology would be probably quite popular. As long as it’s somewhat fuel efficient, the airlines will buy it

Sorry for going off topic.

All good CJ. Still relative to the topic though! Concorde was most definitely a safe aircraft. The problem with it was it was ahead of its time. And because of that it was expensive to build, expensive to operate and in turn, made ticket prices stupidly expensive. So with a limited market and limited route options and such a high operating cost, it was doomed to fail.
The Boom is 30% more efficient I believe. And will cost less to operate. It’s also being built with current technologies, so that is also a reduction in cost Vs the Concorde.
Now…having said that, they are proposing a $7000 round trip from Sydney to LA. I took a screenshot of current prices as I couldn’t believe it myself…

I don’t think a flight that’s 7 hours quicker is worth losing $6000 in spending money 😳

Updating the cockpit would have required support from Airbus. Airbus at this point wanted nothing to do with the Concorde.

That can’t test over the US, can they? I thought sonic booms were banned over land.

:Cough: where’s the aircraft. Where are the plans. What are the NAMES. This company is not elaborating.

And why do you need to know who filed the Letter of Intent? Do you own a competing airline and are worried someone else has got the jump on you?

That is why the company name has been withheld. This industry is a business after all. They have their token boy in Richard Branson. They don’t need to drop anymore names.

After seeing that website I am very excited. I highly recommend checking it out. It looks like they’ve got a very experienced team there (hopefully Boeing will jump onboard and help out, I would want a company even more trustworthy for this type of aircraft). It’s just time (to build it) that makes it less interesting.

I’m sure British Airways, Air France, Qantas and American Airlines will be all over it again! Qantas especially needs some for Sydney to Los Angeles, Sydney to New York and Sydney to London. Sounds fantastic to me!

Are those economy fares?

The Boom interior configuration is going to give a Business Class level of comfort.
If you re-do the price search with Business Class, it will be very competitive.

Yeah economy fairs mate. Boom does actually state their tickets are approx the same price as business class, so you have a valid point.

Still cheaper, but closer to the mark 👍🏽
