There only continuing it for the replacement of the two Air Force B742’s that serve as Air Force One
Boeing killed his own plane with the 787 and 777
Both aircrafts are more fuel efficient.
This isn’t surprising at all. Go for the more fuel efficient aircraft like the 777.
I hope we still be able to see the 747 for more years.
The New Born Queen of the Skies 😢
We will see it for a long time as Air Force 1 :)
Only if cargo or passenger orders go up, if not, we have the A380.
For like 30, 50 years maximum
I’m not a huge fan of the 747 line, I think they can be ugly sometimes (when full flaps are extended) but on the ground or during cruise they look very nice. I’d personally like to see the A380 gain in popularity as its a nicer looking aircraft and the 747 has held the ‘queen of the skies’ title for a long time. The 747-8 was just a modern refresh Boeing produced to compete with the A380, but the A380 is an entirely new aircraft with more capacity and has proved more popular. It will be sad though to see the 747 line slowly fade out, especially when British Airways begin retiring them.
Super jumbos are dying as a whole. Airbus is also noticing declining sales for the A380, which is why they’re not pushing the -neo or a revamp any time soon.
Maybe the 4 engined aircraft lines will fade away eventually. Twin jets are more efficient than quadjets IMO.
I agree, I think four engine planes won’t be around much longer. Commercial planes not military planes, military 4 engine jets will be around for a long time
Maybe the 747 could find its way to the military (not counting the AF1), but only for special occasions.
Maybe a bomber?
Not likely but you never know
I mean, several civilian aircrafts were modified to soldier on the military service, like the Ju 52, DC-3 and others.
I think the 747 looks best with Flaps fully extended and at slow glide speeds
Ehh, I think it looks quite un-neat. The flaps are at different lengths all along the wing and the spoilers are strangely longer closer to the fuselage. I prefer the neatness of the A380, but that may be due to my OCD
