As of now the launch date is still unconfirmed, but what we do have is information on some early orders from two big carriers.
Emirates has ordered 190
Lufthansa has ordered, only 1
Lufthansa is also said to be the launch customer.
Airbus has said in a statement that the A390 will be an upgraded version of the A380, and will feature two extra engines to show that bigger is better. The A390 will be a direct competitor to Boeing’s 747-8I who currently holds the world record of being the world’s longest commercial airplane (length in size) to have been built to date.

I am not impressed. Anything less than 5 decks will not do it for me. For me to have any sense of excitement it needs to have an indoor gym, pool and indoor race track XD
