The 777 is overpowered (with real data to prove it)

This might be what’s behind the 777’s fuel burn as well

Thought I was the only one who skipped the complex airport maps and flight data and just headed to FR24 to analyse a flight’s parking spots, takeoff, cruise and such but I guess it’s my toxic trait of ignorance :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have heard that the fuel burn might be a little bit low, I’m not too sure though as the performance issue and the problems with the 3D model are enough to put me off using the 777. How bad is it? Maybe that could be solved if this climb issue was resolved?

Not at all! Flight radar is great for finding stands and potential shortcuts when flying into unfamiliar airports.

If bad = off IRL then it’s bad. About 40-60% over the course of a flight

40-60% too low?? Wow, I think that might be even further off than the A330. I do find it quite shocking that an issue that large has been left unaddressed and unresolved for so long. It seems that looks and aesthetics of aircraft are always given a lot of attention, but not so much their performance and characteristics. Which, to someone who really values those things, I find quite frustrating.

Very nice work! I think many of the aircraft are overpowered in the sim. I don’t have the research to present like you do, but I can tell you from experience from flying the CRJ over the last few years, the one in the sim is way too powerful.

Thank you! I don’t think you need to present research, if you fly the things then I am more than happy to take your work for it lol. One of the upsides of having such a big and active community is that you will get people who either work in the industry and have first hand knowledge or who are willing to do some research into topics such as this. I think it would be great if the developers used some of this knowledge to help male the sim more accurate.

No, that was bad wording on my part. 40-60% more range. 40-60% too low would be absolutely nuts haha

So this explains why I often see threads of people doing laps around the world lol. It would be interesting to know how simple it is to fix an issue like this. I’m not a developer of any kind but surely this isn’t something that would have to wait for a rework?

But consider the fact that it’s really funny to mess around with

What do you mean?

I used to use the numbers I got from my analysis to do dumb things, like fly an E175 trans Atlantic or run 158 hours with the A380 in ground effect.

158 hours? Surely not lol. I know some people might be upset if the 777 couldn’t climb like a homesick angel anymore, or if they couldn’t do their 2x round-world trips. But surely those things shouldn’t be possible in a ‘simulator.’

Now imagine 1-5 years on a 737 MAX 8…just to bamboozle you even more :face_with_hand_over_mouth:. This is with/without flaps by the way…

In ground effect with the flaps out, you can turn off 3 engines and it’ll maintain speed using extremely low throttle, and then around 40% load idle thrust

Are the developers aware of these issues? There does seem to be a level of apathy towards aircraft performance and characteristics. Because a lot of these issues (777 performance, A330ceo being more efficient than the A330neo, flying 158 hours in an A380) are things I would expect from something like Roblox, not a serious flight simulator.

I nearly flapped your post there…

LOL didn’t even realize

Not bad, in the name of realism it would be good to see this fixed
