The 3 Bridges of Yokohama

Setting up for the approach to 04 at Haneda has you coming in right over Yokohama with its 3 bridges. (Should I continue the descent?). Casual (curious as I was checking it out on the water yesterday).

Serious crime, especially when with A380. I don’t approve this. A380 is restricted to fly around Tokyo because of its noise.

Jk, actually very nice photo! Love seeing Tokyo mentioned!

Pretty much to what arlin1 said but this is a solid red card in my list of realism of Japanese aviation.

Cool picture though!

A few issues here…

There’s a good reason why this doesn’t exist…

In an A380 as well…

In short, no. Divert to Narita. To be honest, that is a nice shot of the flying turtle, but everything else is just a bit… questionable…

She had similar disapproval, on Yokohama harbour below:

I was surprised when I read the following (not independently verified yet):

RJTT has the capacity to handle Airbus A380 aircraft, with Gate 107 even equipped with triple jet bridges for this purpose.

Surprised because this was my departure gate last night (for my irl 787 departure) as I read that statement.

If I’m correct, there were only two occasions when the A380 actually flew to Haneda as of today.
The first one was in 2010 when the A380 test aircraft came and performed various checks at the airport and at the newly opened Terminal 3.
ANA’s first A380 also flew to Haneda in 2019 (a few days before their first flight to HNL) and performed several tests.

So technically speaking, flying the A380 to Haneda is not illegal but there are strict restrictions. I’m just more concerned that you landed on RWY 04, which is not meant to be used for landing!

Also, I don’t frequently come to Haneda IRL but never have I ever seen that third jet bridge ever being used before..

The focus was an exercise in using IF to explore where I happened to find myself IRL, in relation to the closest major airport. We were in a small boat with 6 people going in and out of Yokohama harbor. The guy driving the boat said it’s possible to get close enough to Haneda for a close view of aircraft operations. So, my heart started racing (“lets do that!” I’m thinking). But it’s pretty far and we had a very elderly person with us…so proximity to 04 (Yokohama is right under it), is the best I could do:)

The commute from Narita to anywhere in Tokyo is such a pain compared to what the re-development of Haneda allowed (right at the edge of the city) with resuming international flights (in the old days used to be Tokyo’s only international airport, with 747’s routine). I love the A380, but it’s such a beast they have to ban it to the countryside to keep from affecting the operations density at the modern version of Haneda. At least until they can come up with a good enough workaround.

Woah woah woah now. This is far even for me! Bring that A380 back to Honolulu right now or risk full consequences!!!

Nice photos though…

IIRC the A380 can only operate in the middle of the night due to congestion and separation issues, and there can only be one on the ground at a time.

Its casual server lmao have you even seen it?

747s can still operate at Haneda today, and do so on a daily basis with Lufthansa! Once an icon of Japanese aviation though, its role at ANA and JAL have since been replaced with the 777 which is also seeing its way out. How times have changed.

Yes, I have, thank you very much.
It seems like the one who’s not “playing along” to the joke here, is none other but you yourself.

Not sure that going on rants is playing along lol

Sure is an interesting definition of a “rant” that you have here. Anyways, I will leave this conversation as it is here; there was certainly no need to doubt my ability to read the topic in the first place.

Oh cool, I didn’t know that.

I believe they serve Frankfurt with the 747-8 and Munich with the A350-900. There have been instances of Haneda ATC having to temporarily halt operations on 34R for it to use the opposite end when running the North configuration with a slight tailwind - 3,360m really doesn’t leave a lot of room for a fully loaded 747-8 to spare.
