The 2019 White House Christmas Ornament

Every Year The White House Historical Association creates a Christmas Ornament

This Year The Ornament recognizes president Dwight D. Eisenhower

Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th president of the United States and he was the first ever president to fly in a helicopter while in office. The secret service thought this was unsafe but he prevailed and on July 12, 1957 he took off in a Sikorsky VCH-34.
The ornament created this year recognizes this feat and created an ornament in the shape of the VCH-34.

Here is the box that it came in showing the VCH-34.

As you open the box you are greeted with a message from Lockheed Martin honoring the presidents that have flown in Sikorsky helicopters.

There also is a small booklet that talks about VCh-34 and president Eisenhower

Lastly the main event, the ornament. On one side of the VCH-34 has the presidential seal that represents the two terms that Eisenhower spent in office and on the other side are five stars representing Eisenhower’s military service as a five star general in the army.

If you want to know more about Sikorsky @RotorGuy just made a really nice article about it: The Father of Helicopters
Thanks for coming by!

They do a really nice job every year. Sometimes they even light up. This one was really cool as it was aviation related.

I’m jealous, send me over a piece! 😉

I think you could order one off their website if you really wanted too. Your family might think you are becoming an American but your choice 🤷🏾‍♂️

That’s a beautiful ornament. I need to get my hands on this for Christmas. Cool that it’s aviation related, that just makes it better!

If you guys check the White House Historical Association website you can buy this year’s ornament. I won’t post the link cause I’m not sure if that breaches a rule but if you look it up you can find it.
