How could I go about telling ATC i’m not ready yet and need to hold while taxing ? In case of anything

Unfortunately to them it means that you’re going to have to be ready.

So what does the contact tower when ready command mean? What if i’m not exactly ready?
If you tune into tower, we assume you’re ready to go. Stay on ground until such time.

I’ve had it before where someone has used the standby message, thankfully there were two entry points to the runway so I let them sit there until ready.
Wouldn’t recommend waiting in places that block the taxiway for others at busy airports

As mph said I would use standby to give the controller a heads up. I personally use standby to pilots and to the controller to standby for a min maybe two. And as mph258 Mentioned, make sure to not block an active taxiway or main taxiway while waiting. Metiers tip would also work as your ground instruction with your taxi is to contact tower when ready, so if not ready to do not contact them and request departure until fully ready.
