If the Air Canada plane did land on top of the other aircraft(s), this had the potential to become the worst aircraft disaster in history, and I’m very serious.
If I remember correctly on the report they made some significant progress by changing the rules at Sam Francisco airport, Air Canada etc so hopefully it should be harder at this airport in particular to make such mistakes
They were assigned to land on 28R, and 28L was closed so the lights were off. It sounds like that made them mistake 28R for 28L and Charlie for 28R. It was a failure by the pilots to take note of the NOTAMS in place at the airport. I still don’t understand how you make that mistake (white and yellow lights vs blue and green) but clearly the mistake was made, and the foundation for the mistake was there by failing to read the NOTAMS.
