You’ve just landed in an uncontrolled airport and wish to taxi to park at a certain gate, then you either get lost or run into another plane. What can be improved? Here’s my proposal:
When you’re on ground, you can zoom in on the map and select gate or apron in which you’d like to taxi to. After you select it, an announcement will then be sent to the Unicom message and a purple path with appear on the map (Exactly like how ATC gives taxi instruction in a controlled airport). This will solve both problem of you getting lost and other aircrafts not knowing where you’re going.
This feature doubles as an extra Unicom announcement after you vacate the runway after landing. Currently it’s just “XX is clear of all runways” and that’s it.
This automatic path guide feature could also work for taxiing to the runway for departure as well.
Extra requests: Add more Unicom announcements for push back and lining up on the runway. Example:
“XX is pushing back from Gate XX”
“XX is lining up runway XX”
