I ended up leaving a flight today at KLAX after being told to follow instructions after being told to pushback with the tail to the North. I started pushback from the international terminal, tail going back towards runway 24L/R, nose facing 25R to taxi to 25R. Am I missing something? I don’t want to have trouble with this in the future.
I went years without playing, tryna get readjusted
If your tail/APU is facing runway 24R and L you are following instructions for pushback tail to the north. Chances are the controller doesn’t know north from south and east from west.
Alright thank you, had me questioning everything so i just left😭
Obviously always follow ATC instructions but if it’s something that you absolutely know you didn’t do wrong just proceed as normal. And if you were ever to receive a violation for something like this, the appeals team is always there.
Best way to push back is have the hud on in the cockpit to see where the tail goes
Adding on tail south=nose north east=nose west
If you use auto pushback there is also a compass in the top left corner to help you locate north and south.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the tail positions automatically generated after the controller chooses the path on drag to push?
yes, but there is also a quick menu that give you all the tail position when selecting one aircraft, this give the instruction but not the automatic pushback track
