Switch back to old camera controls

Version Information

26.1 (15507)

Device Information

iPad7, 12

Description

I would like to know what settings I need to change so that I can use the cameras the old way. These new buttons are not useful to me and they are making it harder to move. In fact, I still have not figured out how to move in the free cam and I’m very curious to know how to use the previous controllers.

I believe there is no way to return to the old controls in the current build. For the moment, you can get a previous build, or fly in the stable version, and hope it’s changed in a future patch.

I want to believe that it is actually possible to switch back, since the new release details say that the Free/Drone camera controls are an option.

Hello, the drone controls are not optional in the current (15507) build. The part that is optional is the controls for moving the aircraft. If you want, you can switch to 15496 to not have these options.

Well, since this feature has been added to the beta, it is very likely that it is planned for the official 26.1 release. Switching back to a previous beta version would therefore only be a temporary solution.

I hope this feature is either refined or given an option to disable it. At the moment, it is not consistent with the existing UX settings: even though I have the “Show touches” option turned off, my touches are still visible when I move the drone camera.

Not necessarily. Things can be changed or removed based on user feedback. Remember that mute button they added on the Pause menu a few versions ago? Gone because it wasn’t that fitting.

Same opinion btw . I wonder if someone would actually keep this feature on

To switch back in TestFlight scroll down at the beta and click previous builds, and you can install

In-game screenshots still have a 1x resolution ONLY, btw… :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

Known issue. If it hasn’t been mentioned in the changelog, it most likely hasn’t been fixed.

Yes bro, I am aware that it has been noted and I am very aware that it hasn’t been fixed. I just wanted to point it out one more time :+1:t3:

No need to, especially on a topic not concerning this issue.

I don’t think so

Also adding to this problem with the controls of free camera, I discovered that you can’t zoom in anymore either, so your camera is stuck in whatever the default zoom is in free cam.

Lmao it’s bad  I never realised we could do that!! However, it’s very unpractical when you’re actually trying to take a photo or make a video, like wdym I need to tilt my device to zoom which will make it more difficult for me to see what’s going on on my screen…

If I’m being completely honest… that’s what I use for most of my photos and videos. I like to use the pinch zoom for the initial adjustment, and the tilt zoom for the fine adjustment (as it’s way less sensitive). In videos, I don’t recall ever recording pinch zoom just because the hold and tilt method is so much more precise and consistent. You can also move around while changing zoom with the tilt method (without having your screen covered by three fingers) - particularly useful for a cinematic video.

Alright, after trying it for about 5 minutes you get a point :white_check_mark: It’s actually way more accurate when zooming, though the new buttons are still distracting, plus, to move, you need to put your finger over a specific area… instead of being able to touch the screen anywhere and still manage to move the camera like in the normal version

It’s nearly the exact same space, on the sides of the screen.

No it’s not, some might be used to place their fingers where the new buttons are located, but others, like me, use to press higher on the screen, and with these new update, I cannot, which is essentially a challenge that should’ve never happened. It’s not the same area.
