Summer 2024 Trip to Naija: Return Day 2 - Lagos to Miami Pt 2

Hello folks, welcome to the second part of our trip back to the πŸŒ΄πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ 305 Miami from Lagos πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬. I hope you enjoy this trip as we fly from Frankfurt to Miami on another Queen of the Skies B747-8 aircraft. Btw, we had a 4hr 45min layover at Frankfurt airport

Final Flight: Lufthansa Flight 462 - πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Frankfurt to Miami πŸŒ΄πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Aircraft: Boeing 747-8
Origin: Flughafen Frankfurt Am Main Airport (EDDF)
Destination: Miami International Airport (KMIA)
Flight Time: 9hrs 55mins
Server: Expert

After going through the passport and baggage inspection, we were cleared to go through security before we arrived here at Gate Z54 FRA airport, seeing this Lufthansa B747-8 in the new livery this time taking us back to the USA. Good morning folks, welcome aboard Lufthansa Flight 462 service to the πŸŒ΄πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ305 Miami, let the trip begin.

After push back and safety video was being played, we were taxiing our way to RWY 18 for takeoff out of FRA. So sit back and enjoy the flight to the πŸŒ΄πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ305 Miami. Btw, here is that Private E175 sitting at that ramp, getting ready for its flight, as you can see on the left.

Then the captain goes, β€œFlight Attendants, prepare for takeoff”, before we line up RWY 18 before our takeoff roll

And off we go we took off from Frankfurt RWY 18, and we are on our way to the USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ , leaving Germany πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ . Bye bye Frankfurt πŸ‘‹πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ.

Banking to our left after our 180 clockwise turn, heading north, we were headed northwest whilst leaving the German πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ airspace, flying over this area Rudesheim πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ.

Once we initially leveled off at FL320, a few minutes later, the flight attendants started the starter service which was Crackers once again that was served. Then 15 minutes later, hand towels and main lunch was served, once again either a choice of Chicken and Rice πŸ—πŸš or Pasta 🍝 . So this time, all of us got chicken and rice πŸšπŸ— that came along with a bottle of water πŸ’¦ , a bread roll 🍞 with butter 🧈 , a garden salad πŸ₯— , and this time lemon cake 🍰 πŸ‹ which was so sweet and savory. Oh and the drinks, I got Sprite πŸ₯€, Aunty got Coca Cola πŸ₯€, Grandma got coffee β˜•οΈ and Uncle got Pepsi πŸ₯€. Apparently, we descended to FL300 as I have seen on the flight tracker on the IFE which for some reason, assuming that there seems to be a lack of fuel, meaning that if we ran out of fuel midair, we would’ve fell out of the sky, crashed into the water, and would’ve been killed. But thankfully, it didn’t happened. So in this case, we stayed at FL300 throughout most of the duration of the flight as we were somewhere 2 hours away from Miami, we climbed back to FL320, then to FL360, then finally FL380. Besides that, trash πŸ—‘οΈ was collected and then I listened to music 🎢 🎧 πŸ“± on the majority of the flight. Then I watched a movie πŸŽ₯ 🍿 called β€œThe Union” throughout the rest of the flight, and yes while we were served a chocolate bar 🍫 , and then a pre-landing snack which was a Turkey & Cheese Sandwich πŸ₯ͺ with pickles πŸ₯’ on top, mixed fruits πŸ‰ , and a kit kat bar 🍫 . After that and trash πŸ—‘οΈ was collected, I chewed bubblegum for the remainder of the flight. Btw, we were cruising over the North Atlantic Ocean 🌊 at FL300 after we left the European airspace.

And here we are as we descended, while watching the movie 🍿 πŸŽ₯"The Union", and getting near MIA airport, aiming for RWY 26L, we flew towards the Atlantic Coastal Plain 🌊 before turning left, flying along the Florida Coastline until South Florida was in sight before turning onto final RWY 26L MIA airport.

And here we are on short final RWY 26L MIA airport, flying over Allapattah, before we touch down into the πŸŒ΄πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ 305 Miami.

And yep, we just landed in Miami which means, welcome back to the 305 Miami for Grandma, and welcome to Miami once again for Aunty, Uncle and I as we head back to St. Louis on Friday on American Airlines. So now, taxiing to Gate J17 for our arrival to MIA.

And we have arrived to Gate J17 at MIA airport safely once we were stable, amid fuel. After our arrival, we grabbed our belongings, exited the aircraft, took a photo of our aircraft that brought us to Miami from Frankfurt, and here we are proceeding to the passport control before proceeding to Baggage Claim to claim our baggage, exiting the airport, and grabbing a cab to the house, spending a day and night before we head back to St. Louis πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on American Airlines.

And that completes our Summer 2024 Trip to Naija. I hope you enjoyed our entire Naija journey. I was fun and we had fun in Naija. We took lots of pictures obviously, ate lots of Nigerian food, and had lots of fun with the Nigerian folks, which I say. And thus, we would like to thank Grandma for taking us to Nigeria for our summer vacation. Until next time, stay tune for our American Airlines flight back to St. Louis. Without further ado, have a blessed day and be safe. See ya in the skies.

Nice trip report, I have a question: how do you fly the B748 with her bad fuel problems. I have searched the IFC for topics but for some reason I can’t find a good explanation on how to do so.

@AviatorVJ, well in this case when pushing back, you can start up the first two engines and then taxi with those one and when you get close the runway for takeoff, you can start the other two. When cruising, start at the lowest altitude and then gradually step climb once the aircraft becomes stable that way you can save a lot of fuel to where you’re able to land and arrive at your destination with enough fuel.
