Has anybody experienced a sudden loss of rudder control and do you know if this is a known issue and/or solutions exist for it?
It started happening to me maybe about 3-4 days ago: My right thumb would be on the rudder controlling the airplane when suddenly the slider jumped back to the center position and I lost directional and brake controls. I have had it happen to me in all phases of flight though most noticeable (and most annoying) during landing. I don’t think it is aircraft-specific but for the sake of completeness, I have had it with the B77W and the E175. It had been happening maybe about 30-40% of the time in the past, but for some reason, it happened to me in all of my 4 flights today which I did consecutively without re-spawning.
Not necessarily. It’s worse when trying to reply to ATC even by long-pressing the headset button but I have it happened to me when landing on an uncontrolled airport as well where I was not in a rush to advise on Unicom. @Madison, have you experienced similar things, too?
I know what you mean… like when we pull the rudder slider down for braking, it’s possible that our fingers slide further than they should. I suspected that before so I paid more attention to not let my finger slide too far. I am mildly positive that didn’t happen today.
Restarting my device seems to resolve the issues for now. Rudder still doesn’t work when another menu is open as @Madison pointed out but that has been covered here: Rudder not sticking when opening a menu. Not 100% sure if they are completely unrelated though.
For me, it only happens when i tend to click on some other buttom while using the rudder, for example the Autopilot or other menus, but seems to correct itself when i go back to press the rudder again
